Athlete Rep updates - Nov 2024

Please see the letter below from our team athlete reps, Lucy Toomer and Mason Pertuit, regarding some activities going on in Louisiana Swimming. Parents, please share with your athletes if they are not receiving these emails.

Dear Shark Athletes & Families,  

The annual LA Swimming canned food drive is taking place this month. Everyone can bring in canned goods or money that will be donated to people that wouldn’t be able to have a thanksgiving dinner without this. Participation is not required but certainly encouraged. With thoughtful participation in this activity, our team make a change for those less fortunate than us. We will have a box to place items in or outside Party A starting on Monday, Nov 18. Hurricane prep kits that have items with an expiration date are great places to start.  

Additionally, a competition to design a bag tag for short course state is being held, and the deadline is not until the end of the year. Any swimmer who is interested in this can submit their design to Lucy, and she will submit it to Louisiana swimming.  

Also, it would be helpful if every swimmer and parent who has Instagram to follow the Louisiana swimming page. This will help expand the page, which is highlighting swimmers across the state and sharing information that is helpful to swimmers, along with promoting the sport to non-swimmers in the area.  

Finally, if anyone has any questions or ideas for the future, please let us know. If we do good with these things, we can do more things like this in the future and have fun as a team.
