Sharks Staffing Updates

Have some staffing updates for you all – please read through. Time and new seasons can bring change. While we will certainly miss those departing, we’re excited to welcome a new coach and embrace the transition period for our team.  

If your group is affected by a change, or your athlete is moving groups, I’d highly encourage you to take the initiative in getting to know your new coach as you did your former coach. Asking questions, visiting with them once/week on deck, participating in team activities, and signing up for meets will help build these new relationships.   

Reefs & Threshers - Thank you, Coach Emma!  

Coach Emma Daw joined our staff about a year ago, bringing an exemplary skill set to our Reefs and Threshers groups, bulls drylands, and helping out elsewhere she’s been needed. We’re very grateful she chose Elmwood Sharks and for the relationships that have flourished.   

Emma’s last day will be Wednesday, March 19. More details on a going away party will be announced later. Emma has accepted an occupational therapy job (what she does full-time) closer to her family back on the east coast. We’re very happy for her and wish her much success on and off the pool deck.  

A new coach search for Reefs & Threshers has already begun. Until we have someone in place, I will be leading Reefs and Threshers on Monday and Wednesday; Reefs will be combined with the Bulls group on Thursdays, led by Coach Max and Coach Lillian – same practice schedule is in place.   

Hammerheads - Welcome Canaan Campbell!  

Canaan Campbell joins our staff as the new coach for Hammerheads! Canaan is the assistant coach at Tulane and can concurrently coach with Sharks. He brings with him several years of experience in coaching NCAA qualifiers, Junior National qualifiers, and the entry level swimmer. He was recently nominated for developmental and senior coach of the year in the Ozark LSC (St. Louis vicinity). No doubt you’ll see him on deck working with most every other group in some capacity soon.  

Canaan will start sometime in the next 2-4 weeks once the Ochsner hiring process is complete.
