NICOLE KLEMA
HEAD COACH
I have swam all my life and have taught swimming for 30 years. I have coached for Mannheim District #83 for 24 years. I started as an Asst. Coach for the Mannheim Swim Team in 1994-1995 while I attended West Leyden Highschool. I competed in IHSA at Leyden and had two scholarships to the University to swim. However, I decided to go a different direction and attend Illinois State University where I graduated in 2000 with a B.S. in Physical Education and took the required certification tests in Illinois to be a K-12 Physical and Health Educator.
I worked for Veterans Park District for 20 plus years as a lifeguard, swim instructor, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, CPR/AED Instructor, Aquatic Director and Fitness Manager/Coordinator/Director.
I worked 1 year for Villa Park Park District as an Co Head Coach of the Mariners Swim Team, 4-5 years for Addision Park District as a Building Supervisor,Starguard 2 Insructor/Guard, Head Swim Coach of the Frogs Swim Team, 2 years for Bloomingdale Park District as an Asst .Coach for the Bloomingdale Barricudas
I have worked 23 years for Mannheim District 83 as a Physical and Health Educator and Swim Team Coach
I started again in 2000 as the Asst Coach and after 3-4 years moved to the Head Coach position
In 2009 I helped the swim team become part of USA/ILLINOIS SWIMMING which was required by the South Suburban Swim Conference. In 2018-2019 I also obtained my Administrion Official Certification
I am also an American Red Cross Instructor for 24 years
I enjoy teaching people of all ages how to swim. I feel it is a gift that I was given and I enjoy seeing the smiles on the faces of those I teach when they can swim properly, loose the fear of being uncomfortable in the water and can enjoy the lifelong skill either for recreation or competition.
I have had at least 15 regional swimmers and 4 state swimmers in my career thus far.
As I tell my swimmers technique and endurance are important. It's NOT about the place it's about the time.
What time you put into the pool in practice will show in your times at the meet if you listen and fix your technique.
DANNY SARLO
ASST. COACH
Hello everyone! I am excited to be coaching my first year at the Mannheim Swim Club. I grew up in the area and was a member of the
Mannheim swim team growing up. Since a young age I have always enjoyed swimming and being in the water. As a swimmer I participated in
competitive events and enjoyed doing the 100 meter butterfly and the 200 meter individual medley. I am thrilled for the opportunity to
share my love for swimming with the young athletes that I have the privilege of coaching this season. "You can't put a limit on anything.
The more you dream, the further you get." - Michael Phelps
