Maryland Swimming proudly supports continuing education for all coaches.
Clubs can be reimbursed up to $2,000 annually for coaches to attend pre-approved USA Swimming and USA Swimming affiliated classes, clinics, workshops and seminars.
All reimbursements are made to the Club, not to the coach.
For a club to be eligible for a coach’s clinic, workshop or seminar fee reimbursement, the coach must have completed a one (1) full year as a registered MDSI coach, before attending the class, clinic, workshop or seminar, or before filing ASCA paperwork.
Reimbursement is to be made, to the club, upon presentation of actual receipts, for clinic, workshop, seminar or class registration fees, mileage if traveling by car and hotel if hotel arrangements are made as part of the clinic, class, workshop or seminar registration packet.
All travel and lodging arrangements, not car mileage or lodging arranged as part of the clinic registration packet, must be pre-approved by submitting the Pre-Travel Request Form and all arrangements shall be made by the MDSI selected Travel Agency. Travel or Lodging arrangements made independently will not be reimbursed. Meals are not reimbursed.
Approved Coach Educational Opportunities include, but are not limited to: MDSI Mentoring Program if active, Annual ASCA World Clinic (when held within the USA), Annual Eastern States Swim Clinic, USA Swimming Regional Clinics (East Regional Only), reimbursement for ASCA Level 3, 4, or 5 materials upon achievement of Level. Other requests, if requested, may be considered upon review by the Coaches Representative to the Board.
Program oversight responsibility lies with the Coaches Representative to the Board.
At least one coach must be a part of the official MDSI delegation to the annual USAS Convention.
