USA Swimming Outstanding LSC Service Award

This award is provided by USA swimming to honor a former volunteer who displayed a commitment to MDSI, its coaches and athletes, through their volunteer service to the LSC.

Nominations are accepted by the General Chair and the Board of Directors selects the recipient.

Recipient must have served their position for 4 consecutive years.

Recipient may not be a coach or an athlete.

General Chair’s Outstanding Volunteer Awards

Presented to individuals who continuously exceeded expectations while providing superior service to the athletes, coaches and other volunteer members of MDSI.

Recipients: Pat Kaplan, Anna Summerfielf, Malinda Marroquin, Reilly Willoughby, Ama Asare, Hilary Yager, Jamie Cahn, Sophie Carliss

 

MDSI Sponsored Special Awards

Lifetime USA Swimming Membership Award

Presented to any MDSI member who has contributed and provided exemplary service to the LSC over a period of 10 or more years.

A coach or volunteer is eligible.

Nominations can be made by any MDSI member and submitted to the General Chair.

Selection of the recipient shall be made by the MDSI Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors may waive the years of service requirement for an exceptional candidate.

Jim Pusateri Outstanding Official Award

Presented to an individual who has had the greatest impact on Officiating in MDSI.

Recipient to be selected by the MDSI Official’s Committee

Recipient must have been registered as a certified member of MDSI, only, no later than the previous October 1 of the award year.

MDSI Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award

Presented to a person, group, or organization that has positively heightened the awareness of inclusion efforts through various modes and media resulting in the increase and successful participation of currently underrepresented groups.  Underrepresented groups include ethnicity, identity, persons with a disability, or financial hardship in the sport of swimming.

Nominations can be made by any MDSI member and submitted to the General Chair, Maryland Swimming’s DEI Chair and the Maryland Vice Chair no later than April 1st of each year.

Individual Nomination
A Member of Maryland Swimming who has shown excellence and gone above and beyond their daily role to address the needs and concerns of individuals in the sport of swimming. Made a significant impact over ten years in providing countless individuals with the opportunities to explore issues regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion leadership initiatives in Maryland Swimming.
 

Team/Group or Organization Nomination

Given to a Maryland Swimming LSC team/group or organization that has demonstrated a consistent pattern of breaking barriers while cultivating and promoting diversity, equity and inclusive initiatives within Maryland Swimming that increases recruitment, retention or promotion of a diverse population of athletes, coaches and/or officials. 

 

Selection of the recipient shall be made by the MDSI Board of Directors.

 

The Board of Directors may waive the years of service requirement for an exceptional candidate.
