Frederick Area Swim Team Tryout Information

FAST will hold tryouts for new swimmers during July. 

Swimmers ages 12& Under

  • All NEW swimmers must be evaluated before registering. A NEW swimmer is anyone that did not swim for FAST during the 2024-2025  Winter season. 
  • If your swimmer was on the Pre Competitive team at any time, please sign up for a tryout spot to be re-evaluated for the winter season.

  • After signing up for a tryout spot please fill out the New Swimmer Information Form

 

Swimmers ages 13& Over

  • Please fill out the New Swimmer Information Form
  • Coach Cheryl will reach out to discuss their swim experience.

8 & Unders (Tykes): 

  • Ages 5-8
  • Able to swim 25 yards unassisted. 
  • Swim 25 yards freestyle showing effort and ability with rotary breathing
  • Swim at least a 25 backstroke with arms and with a strong kick

Pre-Competitive: 

  • Ages 5-7
  • Comfortable and safe in the water without an adult in the water with them.
  • Able to swim or paddle approximately 10 yards without touching the side or bottom of the pool 
  • Not able to independently swim/paddle for 25 yards.
  • Comfortable with their face in the water and blowing bubbles.

9-12 Year Olds: 

  • Swimmers in this age group must be able to swim 50 free and 50 backstroke unassisted. 
  • Swimmers must have the basic understanding of butterfly and breaststroke.
