CASTLE ROCK CRUISERS

Cruisers Administration Change

Dan Wahl

Hello Cruisers Family,

We wanted to reach out and inform you of an administrative change for Cruisers. After 27 years steering the ship, Beth has decided to step down from her Cruisers position. In her time with the team, Beth has helped the program grow from a small local swim team to over 350 swimmers spread over two large groups. Beth has served on the Mountain Hi Swim League (MHSL) board as various positions over seven years during her time with the Cruisers. We hope you will join us in thanking Beth for her time and dedication to the program and wish her well in her next adventure.

With Beth’s departure, we want to introduce you to this season’s primary point of contact for the Cruisers swim team. This spring, the Town conducted a search for a new Aquatics Specialist to oversee our aquatic programing which includes our Learn to Swim and Cruisers programs. We are excited to announce Jocelyn Parker as our new Aquatics Specialist. Jocelyn is excited and ready to hit the ground running. We’ve included a short bio of Jocelyn below as a quick introduction. Jocelyn is building out the coaching team and will be at the parent meetings and will be sending out more information in communications as we get ready to hit the water in May.

To ensure Cruisers communications are organized and efficient, please send emails or questions to [email protected]. As staff have responsibilities in multiple programs, emailing Cruisers through this address helps to keep team information together.

See you soon!

Jocelyn Parker | Swimming Bio

Jocelyn Parker started swimming competitively at the age of 4 in Northern California. Born and raised in Napa California, she grew up swimming in Pacific Swimming. From summer leagues to competitive teams, she found her love of the sport at an early age. As a swimmer, she found success in the water and qualified for Olympic trials in 2004, 2008, and 2012. Through swimming, she was able to compete and the collegiate level for Florida State University where she was captain of the team in 2010-2011.

Jocelyn started her coaching career at 17 years of age with the Pacific Northwest All-Star team and quickly discovered her love for the career. She coached for the better of ten years between Northern California, Florida, Arizona and Colorado. Jocelyn believes in swim communities - not just swim teams. Aquatics as a whole creates opportunities and safe environments in which our children can grow and thrive. She believes in the swimming culture and believes that it takes a village to create a successful team. Her swimming philosophy is that we can drive to be 1% better every day in life and should strive for that also with swimming. She hopes to bring the town of Castle Rock the best of her knowledge and creativity while creating a safe environment for our children to grow up in and thrive.
