Executive Committee

President - Ryan Sheldon

Ryan swam competitively from the ages of 6 through 18 in Kansas City, Missouri. Stemming from his passion for fitness instilled by swimming instilled, Ryan earned a PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Missouri in 2016. Since 2019, Ryan has worked as a scientist at the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids conducting research in metabolism. Ryan and his wife, Meg, have four children, one of which swims with Riptide.

Vice President - Kevin Marn

Kevin currently works in talent acquisition and marketing for a regional construction company. In a past life, he worked in sports television, and is excited to blend his experience together to support and grow the swim club. Kevin’s wife, Megan, is an assistant coach for the club, and they have two children, the oldest of which is in her second year with our juniors. Kevin is excited to partner with the board and our club parents to give our swimmers a fun, supportive, and formative experience in and out of the pool.

Treasurer - Stephanie Rockafellow

Stephanie resides in Rockford with her husband, Ryan. They have three children, two of whom are swimming for Riptide. The third spends a lot of time at the pool, cheering her siblings on and will likely be eager to join Riptide once she is old enough. Prior to being a stay at home mom, Stephanie worked as an occupational therapist with a focus in pediatrics. Stephanie hopes that her knowledge in childhood development and social-emotional wellbeing will positively impact the Rockford Riptide Board.

Secretary - Amy Roder

Amy and her husband Chris live in Rockford, along with their son, who is a Riptide swimmer. When not in a natatorium, you can find Amy with her family outside on the water, out on the trail, or sliding down a ski hill. On weekdays she can often be found working as a global supply chain category leader for Steelcase. Amy's favorite part of Riptide is the way that swimming allows kids to experience both personal and team growth and success. She looks forward to seeing the next generation of Riptide swimmers on the starting blocks!

Trustees

Lyndsee DeHaan - Lyndsee lives in Rockford with her husband and four children, who are all actively involved in the community and sports. Lyndsee has one Riptide swimmer and two more who can't wait to grow up and be swimmers, too! Lyndsee is a pediatric nurse and her hobby is growing a cut flower garden. Lyndsee has seen how swimming with Riptide has been a positive experience for her daughter, and hopes to continue to help Riptide grow.

Megan Marn - In addition to coaching, Megan serves as a Board Member at Large for the Rockford Riptide, where she is excited to have a hands-on role in helping the club grow and thrive. She is also the proud parent of a swimmer in the JRR 4 group, and is grateful for the opportunity to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for competitive swimming with the next generation of athletes.

Outside of the pool, Megan is an avid coffee enthusiast, enjoys hiking and camping with her family, and treasures time spent in Northern Michigan’s beautiful outdoors.

Alyssa Twyman - Alyssa is a Clinical Nurse Manager for Trinity Health Michigan. Alyssa and her husband, Jeff, grew up in Rockford and now have 3 kids, one of which swims with Riptide. Alyssa has always been active and enjoys sports, she is excited to support and grow the Riptide team!

Careena DeMull-Hillard - Careena and her wife, Bridget, live in Rockford along with their three children, one of which is a Riptide swimmer. careena is a Medical Operations Specialist in the MedTech industry by day, and can also be found in the van on evenings and weekends chauffeuring her kiddos around to all of their actiities. Careena participated in Age Group Swim as a kid, and is excited to work with the board to help the Riptide swimmers have the same fun and memorable experience she had.
