Coaches and Directors

Jamie Murphy was a competitive swimmer since the age of seven. As an age group swimmer, he swam for the Greater Akron Aquatic Club (now F.A.S.T.) and ran track and cross and cross country at Firestone High School (Akron, Ohio) and Miami University of Miami (Oxford, Ohio). Upon graduating, he joined the Naval Reserves and became a Commissioned Naval Officer. His passion for swimming placed him in a key role as dryland coach and an assistant coach for the Spartan Aquatic Club since 2011 and he bacame the head cach in 2018. In 2019, he was voted as LSC Michigan Swimming Coach of the Year.
When he is not coaching, he is employed as a Parole Office with the State of Ohio.



Tim Phillips has been an assistant coach with the Spartan Aquatic Club since 2002. During this time he has coached all age group levels including several State Champions. He is currently coaching Gold group and puts a strong emphasis on swimming technique. Tim swam with local swim clubs including the Willow Run Flyers and Ypsi Otters before competing at Ypsilanti High School where he specialized in the 100 Fly and 200 I.M. Tim lives in Novi with his wife and two girls and is a Park Planner with the Huron-Clinton Metroparks.
