The Dassel-Cokato Cheerleading Program offers sideline cheerleading to girls in grades 7-12, and competitive cheerleading to girls in grades K-12. Our K-6 program is run through Dassel-Cokato Community Education, and our 7-12 program is ran through the Activities Department at Dassel-Cokato School District.
The coaching staff at Dassel-Cokato Cheerleading focuses on building a family atmosphere in our program. We aim to develop the girl's character traits, like personal responsibility, accountability, goal setting, and working together as a team along with developing their skills in cheerleading. We refer often to the principles in the Positive Coachign Alliance program, which emphasizes working on building positive relationships and team culture along with holding the cheerleaders accountable to themselves, the team, and the coches.
As teachers, the coaching staff are also very focused on classroom performance. Being a cheerleader is a big time commitment, and yet the girls experience better classroom performance when they are in the program! Not only do we monitor grades and work with teachers, the school also holds academic checks periodically to make sure the student athletes are being great role models in the classroom.
If you would like any more information on our program, please feel free to contact a coach!
