Coaches and AQ Leaders

Derek Steward has been coaching multiple sports since the beginning of 2010 including running and swimming specifically. He started coaching swimming on an individual level in the summer of 2010 and was able to bring many of his swimmers to the finish line of multiple triathlons. Since 2014, Derek started coaching children as young as 8 years old. He has provided children with guidance to excel in and out of the pool.
On a personal level, Derek has been no slouch either. He is an avid endurance athlete and has completed 7 International distance triathlons, 2 half iron distance races and completed Ironman Wisconsin in 2012. He swam competitively for 9 years before putting his swim cap down to focus on running.
Outside of swimming Derek has ran multiple marathons as well as other miscellaneous endurance events including a few 50k’s, 50 miles and hopes to soon complete his first 100mile footrace. He has Level 1 and 2 US Masters Swimming Coaching, USA Swimming Coaching Certifications, and lifeguard certifications.
