Mantas Swim Club Weekly Update
Mantas Families,
Mantas Swim Club racers took advantage of some great opportunities to compete over the weekend. We had two groups competing, on Friday night in Rochester at the block party meet and all weekend at the University of MN in the Foxjet Winter Classic. In both meets we accomplished new events and best times.
Meet Registrations Available
We currently have two meets open for swimmer registration. I am hoping to also add one more Block Party opportunity before we finish our winter session. All Mantas swimmers will practice through the month of February as we host the Minnesota Regional Championships at the New Prague FAC pool February 27 – March 1st. After that weekend only swimmers who have qualified to race in the state championship meets will participate in practices.
The MN Swimming Bronze Championships is the first meet in our championship season. This meet is for swimmers who have Bronze times or slower. The meet happens at Northfield Middle School, February 21-22. Swimmers who meet the Silver standard at the Bronze Championships may race those events at our Minnesota Regional Championship meet the next weekend in New Prague.
The Winter Storm Warning Invite is a fast meet for swimmers with times that meet the Silver and faster time standards. For swimmers 13 & Over the meet format will be prelims/finals on Saturday. This is a great chance to swim fast for many of our families. The meet is held February 13 – 15, at Century Middle School in Lakeville.
Here is our training schedule for this week. We have changes with added high school meets in both locations.
New Prague at the FAC – High School Boys meet on Tuesday – no practice all groups
Novice will swim Monday & Thursday, 5:30pm – 6:15pm
Age Group 1 will swim Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Age Gorup 2 will swim Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 6:15pm – 7:30pm
Senior swimmers will swim Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Mankato at DMMS – High School Boys meet on Tuesday – location change for some
Novice will swim Monday & Thursday, 6:30pm – 7:15pm. No practice Tuesday.
Age Group 1 will swim Monday at DMMS, Tuesday at EAST, Wednesday & Thursday at DMMS 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Age Group 2 will swim Monday at DMMS, Tuesday at EAST, Wednesday & Thursday at DMMS 6:30pm – 7:45pm
Senior swimmers will swim Monday at DMMS, Tuesday at EAST, Wednesday & Thursday at DMMS 6:30pm – 8:30pm, and FRIDAY AT GAC at 5:00pm.
Mantas families, thank you for your patience as our schedule changes take place. I am fortunate to work with a great staff of coaches. This was made even more evident this past week as Coach Luke and I traveled with the Gustavus team to Puerto Rico on a training trip. While on the trip, my father had a heart attack and then bypass surgery. All went as planned in the surgery and we now find ourselves managing his recovery process. With an already busy schedule, I am thankful for my coaches who can help our swimmers when I am needed elsewhere.
