Mantas Swim Club Weekly Update - Please read the whole thing!

Alex Lindstrom
Hi Mantas Families,

There is lots of information in this update.  Please make sure to read the whole update for all the info.  Mantas swimmers had an awesome weekend of racing.  Many swimmers posted lifetime best times. This is great timing as we head into our championship meets.

Updated times, from all the fast swimming this weekend, have been sent in with our Bronze Championships entries.  The MN Bronze Championships take place this weekend in Northfield.  Meet information will come out to participants near mid-week.  Swimmers at the Bronze meet who achieve times in the Silver standard will swim those new events at our MN Regional Champs meet the next weekend at the FAC in New Prague.

Meet registration for the Minnesota Regional Championships (MRC’s) ends after today.  Swimmers need to have times that meet the silver standard.  High School Boys that are in season this week, make sure to register!  Your high school times can be used to enter the MRC’s meet and you are eligible, and encouraged, to swim.  We’d love to see many high school boys back in the water with us after this week. Good Luck at Sections!

We need lots of timers to make our MRC’s meet a success for our swimmers.  Mantas Swim Club is hosting MRC’s at the FAC in New Prague February 27 – March 1 st.  We host meets to give our swimmers a chance to race at home, and as a major fundraiser for the team. Even if your swimmers aren’t participating in the meet, we still need your help in volunteering.  Lane timers is a great job, but if it’s not your thing, then we opportunities in:

  • The main timing table
  • Awards
  • Concessions
  • Hospitality
  • Volunteer Check-in
  • Meet set up and tear down
  • Meet Announcer

Please register to volunteer by  clicking on this link.  We need every job filled in order to make this a great event for our swimmers and the visiting teams. Volunteers receive a Mantas Swim Club T-Shirt to be worn when helping.

Next week, Wednesday February 25 th, we will host a  WHOLE TEAM practice and team meal at the FAC in New Prague.  This is a great opportunity to put swimmers and coaches together from both locations for a fun time.  Practice will start at 6:00pm and the meal will kick off at 6:45pm in the community room just down the hall from the pool.  ALL MANTAS SWIMMERS are encouraged to participate next Wednesday.
During Meet Week we ask that each swimmer bring a “case” of water, pop, or Gatorade for our concessions stand to sell during the meet. Bring these items on Wednesday as you arrive for the whole team practice and team meal in New Prague.
Senior – 1 case  (24 cans) of Pop (Coke, Diet Coke, Mountain Dew, Sprite/ 7UP, Dr. Pepper).  Age Group  – 1 case of Gatorade (flavor of choice)  Novice – 1 Case (40 Bottles) of Water.

Finally, watch for an email explaining how you can help with food items for our coach/official hospitality area.  We feed those groups with meals Friday – Sunday at our meets and there is lots to prepare.  That email will come out this week.
