About the Sapphire Gymnastics Program

The Sartell Sapphire program began in the summer of 2000. It is a nonprofit organization based out of the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA). It is in affiliation with the Minnesota State High School League and prepares young gymnasts for high school gymnastics. We follow the MAGA format and rules, which is different than USAG gymnastics, which follows the Junior Olympic format.

The Sapphire program has a board of directors which consists of parents and coaches. This board meets on a monthly basis, creates and enforces the rules and policies of the Sapphire program, and incorporates fundraising opportunities for all gymnasts.

Sapphire and Rec practices are held at the Old Sartell High School.  The Sapphire gymnastics program is open to Sartell area residents that pay taxes to the Sartell-St. Stephen school district. Tuition currently runs $6.50/hour. There is a required $60.00 nonrefundable registration fee. Each family is required to volunteer 10 hours per year or are responsible to buy out missing hours at $20 per hour. Families are required to participate in the annual raffle fundraiser.  At this time gymnasts are required to sell or buy out 20 tickets each (discounted ticket amounts when multiple gymnasts are from the same family).

Monthly calendars are distributed to member families and include community performance dates and practice times for all levels as well as meet dates for competitive teams. Monthly tuition statements are distributed by the treasurer. Gymnasts participating on the competition teams will be expected to pay competition fees in excess of regular tuition costs. Gymnasts may participate in the Sapphire Program without being required to compete. All families will be expected to participate in fundraising activities as determined by the board of directors.

Sapphires is a tryout-based program.  Tryouts are held annually in the spring and also sometimes offered in the fall.  Our Rec classes are not tryout based and are open to anyone as space allows.
