Weekly Update 09/27 - 10/03
Sachem Swim Club - Weekly Update 09/27-10/03
Dear SSC Families,
Yesterday was our first swim meet of the season and I was blown away by our performances. Everyone really showed up, and so early in the season. Thank you to all of our swimmers for your hard work, excellent behavior on deck, and your performances. A special shout out to Brooke Orner for shattering 2 team age group records!
I'd like to also thank our parent volunteers for all of their hard work. as well. You guys were the glue that held the day together. Without you, we couldn't have put together such a great meet and opportunity for our swimmers. Thank you all again!
Practice Schedule for all groups: Week of 09/27-10/03
Please refer to the following practice schedule for all groups for the following week:
Weekly Schedule - 09/27-10/02
Please be advised that this Sunday, 10/03 is the ASCSC Relay Carnival. Entry in the meet will be based exclusively on invitation, in accordance with current individual top times for each age group.
Relay Carnival information:
- Saturday 10/02 there will be NO PRACTICE for the Senior group. Instead, all selected athletes for the Relay Carnival will be expected to be on deck at Sachem East for a pre-Relay Carnival practice. T-Shirts will be distributed, a team photo will be taken, and breakfast will be provided. We will be reviewing our relay assignments, and practicing our relay exchanges in preparation for the meet. It is critical that you attend this practice if you are selected for the meet.
- If your swimmer is selected for the relay carnival, but cannot attend, you MUST respond to our notification email when recieved ASAP so that a replacement can be selected for their spot.
- Each swimmer will be allotted a total of 2 entries for realys, and up to two additional entries for special relays.
- There will be no baloons or facepaint permitted at this event.
- SSC will be seated next to Team Suffolk near the window side of the diving tank section.
- Event information can be found in our SSC Event Calendar tab (Link = https://www.teamunify.com/team/mrssc/page/events#/team-events/upcoming). Please review the meet info to know when you should be at the pool. Please plan to arrive approx 15 minutes before your warm up schedule to be sure that you can find seating and do not miss your warm up.
- Masks are optional for all vaccinated individuals while in the Nassau County Aquatic Center Facility. Masks are required for all unvaccinated individuals and all children age 11 or younger. Baskets will be provided behind the starting blocks for swimmers to place their masks in. As always, please remember to bring a dry bag or Ziploc bag to keep your masks dry. Please also write your name on said bags to avoid and mix up of masks. Disposable replacement masks and extra Ziplock bags will be available at the administrative table and in Room 106.

TVSC Ann Wycoff Memorial Swim Meet:
Reminder:
-
The first 5 entries per session will be offered to the swimmers in each age group who have had the best practice attendance adherence as of 09/23/21. Your account will receive a direct email request to determine whether or not you would like to enter this meet. Those emails have not been sent yet, as we are still reviewing one of our groups attendance at this time. If those selected cannot attend, their spots will be opened as additional spots to our first come, first served participants.
- Many of you have already emailed and have secured a spot. There are few spots remaining in each age group.
- We are requesting additional entries for our team and will notify you should we be granted additional entry spots.
Please note: This meet is currently limited to 10 swimmers per team, per session. There are no spectators allowed, masks are required by all individuals while inside the building and on the pool deck, and each team will be situated in their own section of bleachers to uphold social distancing as best as possible. The TVSC is required to uphold these standards in order to hold the meet, so that makes things like entries difficult to manage fairly on our end.
That being said, we have decided to use the system described above this year as we feel is the fairest approach to determine our entries.
New Meet Added - LIE Fall Classic
Due to the HAA Meet being canceled, we have added the LIE Fall Classic to our Meet Schedule.
- The LIE Fall Classic will be held on November 5th-7th at the Hofstra University Swim Pool.
- This meet is now open for signup.
- There is no cap on the number of swimmers in this meet, so we expect the meet to fill up quickly.
- Please enter your commitment to this meet by 09/29/21 so that we can send our initial entry list to the host team in order to avoid being locked out of the meet.
- There are no spectators allowed at this meet, however, a livestream of the meet will be available.
- This meet is open to all of SSC's competitive groups (Developmental, Novice, Junior, Senior).
Thank you again to all who assisted us with our first swim meet. If you have any questions at all, please do not hestate to contact me at [email protected]
