SSC Weekly Update 01/31 - 02/06
Hello Team,
I hope that you all enjoyed a well deserved snow day. We are bummed that we couldn’t make it to our Championship meet in Massachusettes this weekend, but our February Freeze is right around the corner and will be another great opportunity to capitalize on this recent block of training to get some fast swims in for all of our members!
Please take a moment to review this week’s update in its entirety as there are a lot of important developments and opportunities within it.
Important updates:
- LIE Last Chance - Please send your entries ASAP if you’re looking for your LAST CHANCE to qualify for JOs, Silvers, Etc. Please click here to view the championship meet qualifying time standards. We may not be able to get you in after this weekend.

Upcoming Meets
SSC February Freeze - 02/04 - 02/06 - Hosted by Sachem Swim Club @ Sachem East High
School & SSC February Freeze Time Trial 02/09
-Updated entries for the meet have been published.
- Top 2 heats for the 1650Freestyle event will be run on Friday ONLY.
-All others swimming the 1650 Free are scheduled to swim it on 02/09. Warm-Up for 02/09 Time Trial will begin at 4:30pm at Sachem North. Meet Start at 5:00pm
- Time Trial Added for 02/09 will allow for any swimmers interested in achieving specific cut times for the upcoming championship meets an opportunity to achieve qualifying times. Spots are limited and must be emailed if you wish to compete.
- 1 Spectator per swimmer. This does not include meet workers.
LIE Second Chance Challenge - 02/11 -02/13 - Hosted by LIE @ Hofstra University Swim

- Meet Entries close on 01/31. The meet is at capacity currently. We may not be able to add swims, so please send them if you forgot to do so so that we can try to get you in.
- The third pass of meet entries have been submitted to the meet host.

- This is the last chance meet for many to qualify for JOs, Silvers, Age Groups, Etc.
2022 MR Senior Metropolitan Championships - Feb 17, 2022 - Feb 20, 2022
-This is a major qualifying meet. Most swimmers will not qualify as this meet has advanced swimming standards. If you qualify, you will be added to the entry file. If you have manually entered yourself, you will be removed.
2022 MR Silver Championships South - Feb 25, 2022 - Feb 27, 2022
- Information on this meet will be published soon.
2022 MR 8 & Under Championships - Mar 4, 2022 - Mar 5, 2022
- This meet has been canceled by the Host Team. An alternate meet is currently being worked on and will be published soon. An alternate schedule will likely be announced
SSC Shamrock Invitational - Mar 5, 2022 - Mar 6, 2022
- Meet information has been published.
- Eligible athletes have been committed to the meet.
- If you have made 3 or more events in Silvers or higher, you are NOT eligible for this meet.
- This meet will serve as a “replacement” to the annual BRONZE meet

Beginner/Beginner Plus
Beginner Practice on 02/02/22 will be held at the Holtsville YMCA (Brookhaven ROE) located at 155 Buckley Road, Holtsville, NY due to the Boys Varisty League Championship Meet being held at Sachem East
There is NO PRACTICE for Beginner and Beginner Plus Groups on Saturday, 02/05 due to the Home Meet.

The Deep End - Swimming Lifestyle Clothing
We have teamed up with a new Clothing Company called The Deep End. They specialize in niche casual clothing for swimmers. You may have seen our coaches wearing some of the clothes around the deck and we can attest that they are made well, fit well, and look great!

Again, we are happy for the opportunity to represent our sport and have some cool clothes that help to support the swimmer identity.
With cases still going around, cold weather ahead of us, and a big meet calendar over the next few months, please be reminded that if your child is sick or symptomatic at all, please do not bring them to practice. If they have a cold, a virus, the flu, or COVID, please do not bring them to practice and risk the health of our teammates. Please also continue to notify Coach Kyle, the Group Head Coaches, or a member of the SSC Board if your swimmer has a positive case and/or if others may become close contacts. Please continue to be diligent in your notifications so that we can assure that every close contact is notified whenever one takes place. We are a team that looks out for one another and we appreciate all that you are doing to help keep each other happy and healthy!
Additional Updates
Jackson’s Toy Drive - A huge thank you to all of you who participated in Jackson’s Toy Drive around the Holidays. We received a thank-you letter from Jackson’s Toy Drive stating that our team donated enough to help 107 families this season. I am so proud of our team for this accomplishment and we are all looking forward to beating that number next year!
Raffle Tickets - ALl Raffle tickets are due by the Feb Freeze meet.

Volunteer job assignment signup for the February 4-6 SSC February Freeze Swim Meet are still open with available slots in all sessions.
** WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS FOR THE 11-12 SESSIONS, ESPECIALLY ON SUNDAY **
Please login to your account and sign up for a volunteer job. We need everyone’s help to make the meets a success this year.
We are returning to the system where each family will be required to work a minimum of 5 sessions per season.
Job Reporting Times will be at the beginning of your swimmer’s warmup.
