Weekly Update 3/14-3/20

Kyle Wilson

Hello Team,

Welcome to our new Beginner and Beginner Plus swimmers and welcome back to all of those returning for our Spring Session. Please review all of the information in this email as well as our Weekly Schedule which has been updated to a new Spring Standard Calendar. This, like other weeks, is always subject to change based on school closures, events, etc. Please make it a habit to always read through the weekly updates and double check your locations and times for each practice. Please also note that the weekly updates are always added to our Home Page (SachemSwimClub.com) under the “News” section at the bottom of the home page.

A special shout out to our JOs and AGTC swimmers this weekend who started off Friday’s sessions with a Bang. Special shoutout to Brooke Orner for posting the #1 time in the 12 Year old 50 Butterfly with a new team record of 26.75!

Another Special Shout out to Senior Swimmer, Samantha Watson, on being named Sachem North's 2022 Salutatorian!

We are so proud of the talent that we have here in our SSC Family!

***NEW FITTER AND FASTER SWIM CLINICS ANNOUNCED***

We have added another Fitter and Faster clinic series to our calendar to continue to provide our members with learning experiences in the sport at the highest level offered. Please save the date in your calendars and standby for another email update with directions on how to sign up.

The clinics will be held at Sachem East High School from April 29 - May 1st.

This time around, our clinics will focus on speed, skills, and race strategy. This is a more advanced clinic than the last stroke clinic and should offer some really exciting new ways to think about and strategize in the sport for our members! We recommend registration in the events for swimmers with BB times or higher.

8 and Under Developmental, Beginner and Beginner Plus - Swim Meet Opportunities and Spring Registration

The Beginner and Beginner Plus Spring session begins on 03/16.

- Registration is now OPEN for all interested in returning.

- Registration can be completed by clicking this link.

Additional Swim Meet Opportunity:  Each year, Metropolitan Swimming normally puts on an 8 and Under championship meet. Due to facility issues for COVID restrictions where the meet is normally held upstate at Felix Festa Middle School, this year’s meet has been canceled. However, TVSC will be hosting a replacement 8 and under meet for Suffolk County-based teams on 03/19 at Stony brook University. We have gone ahead and added all of our 8 and Under members to this meet. It is a great, additional opportunity for your young swimmer to race in a true meet setting. You must submit a scratch to Coach Kyle via email at  [email protected]  if your swimmer is 8 years old or younger and does not want to participate, otherwise, you will be entered in this meet.  Fees for the meet will be billed to your swim account.  Important to note, that if you do not scratch before the deadline, you will be responsible for the splash fees. If you don’t show up, you will be charged a splash fee.

Please  click here  for the details regarding this event. Entries and meet information have been posted at this link as well.

There has been a change to the meet start. The meet will now run as ONE session for both boys and girls.

Session #1 - Girls 8&U and Boys 8&U

- Warm-Up 8:30 am, Start Time 9:30am

There is one spectator allowed per session.

All final scratches are now PAST DUE.

Recommended Personal Equipment & Gear by Group

Attached to this email is a pdf with clickable links to various pieces of recommended personal training equipment. We understand that many may not have the resources to purchase all of this equipment and that is OK. We have some equipment at each of our facilities that can be borrowed whenever needed. This is all recommended equipment as each suggested item was selected based on durability and practicality and each piece of equipment allows for some nuance in training skills and can be used for stroke corrections. Use of this equipment is at the discretion of the group head coaches and will be prescribed accordingly.

If you wish to purchase any of these items, have any questions about additional pieces of equipment not on this list, or have any questions in general, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Thanks,

Coach Kyle
