2023 RAC Sandbox Invitational 

Hello SSC Swimmers & Parents,

With the RAC Sandbox Invitational in Maryland just around the corner, we wanted to take a moment to issue some reminders regarding this meet, provide some additional meet information for planning, and start to nail down commitment to this meet.

As many of you know, the RAC Invite is a big, Prelims/Finals meet that myself and the SSC Coaching staff are eyeing and programming for as our “mid-season” championship meet for LCM. With that in mind, it is one of the best opportunities our athletes will have to swim fast this summer and hopefully qualify for additional Championship meets at the end of the LCM season! It is also a wonderful meet and team-building experience!

Since this is a major championship meet, there are qualifying times. Many of you have already qualified for this meet and should be eying events that you have not qualified for (in red) this weekend and potentially at the BG/BG+ Time trial on 06/06/23.

SHORT COURSE YARDS QUALIFICATION:

This meet is permitting time conversions for qualification. If you have not yet qualified for an event in LCM, you may have qualified for the event in SCY. To know if you may have qualified for an event using a Short Course Yards (SCY) time, you can use the following link to calculate the estimated time via conversion. https://www.teamunify.com/osthsc/__doc__/time-conversion-tool.html. If you have any questions about time conversions, please let me know asap. If you qualify for the event using a conversion, please screenshot the conversion chart as proof of qualification and forward to me via email asap.

****Additional Opportunity to Qualify: 06/06/23 BG/BG+ Spring TT:****

This coming Tuesday, 06/06/23 there will be a last chance time trial held immediately following the BG/BG+ Spring time trial this Tuesday. This opportunity will be for anyone within a reasonable distance of qualifying for a RAC cut in SCY. Please use the time calculator available at the link above to confirm you are within a reasonable distance to be added to the Time Trial. All Time Trial requests will be due by Sunday, 06/04/23 at 9pm. After that, we will not accept any late additions.

Declare your intent to swim:

If you have qualified and plan to attend this meet, please declare your intent to swim ASAP! Sign into your SSC account, go to the SSC Meet Calendar, and sign up for this meet! If you have any trouble, please RSVP to this meet by emailing [email protected] directly. If you are qualified and are NOT going, please decline this meet manually so that we don’t have to chase you down!

Travel Arrangements:

11+ Swimmers will travel with coaches and chaperones on the trip.  10 & Under eligible swimmers must travel with their parents/guardians.  Swimmers on team travel (11+) will have hotel, transportation, and food arranged. Travel arrangements, cost, etc are all subject to registration #s so we need to get commitment ASAP!  Currently, we are planning to rent a bus for team travel. We are estimating the total cost for the meet will be $ 400.00 - $500.00.

Parents:
