SSC WEEKLY UPDATE 06/26 - 07/02

Weekly Update Additional Information:
- All entrances into the pool must be done through the main gate into the pool. Athletes and parents are prohibited from entering through the back utility gate. That gate will be locked with the public now using the pool area. Athletes should arrive at the pool 15 minutes early and will be permitted to enter the pool area after 5:45 pm. We may occasionally be conducting drylands prior to 5:45pm where we will utilize the outdoor spaces and pavilion. The public will be exiting at 5:45 pm. Please be respectful of the operational hours. Teams must exit the facility in a timely manner after practices and use the main entrance only.
- Bathrooms - The men’s restroom will not be completed or operational by Monday(today). The women’s restroom will be open. We will continue to use the restrooms on the women's side in the same way we have been utilizing them all Spring/Summer so far. The men’s room should hopefully be done towards the end of the week and we should be back to normal at that point.
- Lane lines- will be put in/out by the Holtsville staff each morning and evening. Swimmers/Coaches please help with putting them in and setting up the pace clocks wherever possible. Lane lines can stay in after PM practice during the week.
- Parking- Any non-Town of Brookhaven residents may need to pay the meter until 8 pm. TOB does check plates for parking passes, so we are encouraging you to pay the meter or park off-site on Canine Road and walk in after drop-off. If you are a resident of TOB you should have a TOB sticker or register for parking online.
- The pool site must be clean of all swim gear and garbage. There will be a lost and found but anything left in it after 1 week will be tossed out.
- Kiddy Pool- Parents/Swimmers are not to be in or around the kiddy pool during practices. The evening hours are used to treat and disinfect that pool and usually have a high chlorine count after public hours. The staff will aid in keeping people out of that water.
- If a parent or swimmer notices anything of concern with the pool or facility please direct it to a Coach ASAP who will coordinate with a TOB Senior Lifeguard on duty to log in the book for maintenance to look into.
Thanks all!

Weekly Message From Head Coach Kyle
SSC Swimmers & Parents,
Thanks all for another great week of training. I wanted to issue a brief reminder that if you are NOT attending the upcoming RAC Invite, please consider registering for the LIE July Summer Sizzler and/or the Open Water Competition! Our training will be planned in accordance with a peak performance at this time!
All members in Developmental, Novice, Juniors, Advanced, and Seniors, please be reminded that Monday begins our “Summer Schedule.” While there will be some fluctuations here and there the schedule below is reflective of a standard week until the end of July. 5-
SSC Open Water Training opportunity: Beginning on 06/28/23 we will be starting up SSC-run Open Water training opportunities. We will be extending this opportunity to any interested SSC Athletes in the Novice group or higher! We hope to see you take advantage of this opportunity! Open water swims will take place on Wednesdays, weekly, and can be found in our weekly practice schedule in the Seniors/Advanced section, so please be on the lookout for that information! Practices will take place at Broadway Beach in Rocky Point, NY 11778, and will begin at 7:00 am and will be over by 8:30 am at the latest! We will be issuing additional information on this matter in the coming days so please keep an eye out for updates. In the interest of getting ahead of the ball, please make sure to get an open water swimmer’s buoy in order to participate. These will be MANDATORY for all participants. Wetsuits are recommended but not mandatory. Please feel free to contact our team sponsors at TYR for help with products as well!
RAC swimmers - Please be advised that the meet hosts at RAC ran into timeline issues and some automatic event scratches in the 1500m Free and 100M free were applied to some of our athletes. I am reviewing options to reinstate those events for athletes who were affected. For the time being, we have attached the Psych Sheet to the meet information as well as the meet timelines, and warm-up assignments. Relays have been submitted for the Open Age Group only. Many of our 12-year-old athletes will be on these relays so please plan accordingly. Relays will not be announced until the day of the meet and are always subject to change.
SSC Sweatshirt Pickup - Last Call - The LAST CALL for Sweatshirt Pickup will be Monday 06/26 from 5-8 pm at the Holtsville Ecology Center Pavilion. If you miss this last chance to pick up there will be no additional opportunities to pick up your sweatshirt and you will have missed your chance to get your free team gift after this point.
Lastly, please be advised that a few of our Coaches and friends of SSC will be taking on some swimming challenges for a good cause.
SSC Advanced Coach, Rachel Ditolla, will once again be signing up for the Swim Across America in September for the sake of fighting cancer. If you would like to donate to her cause, please consider donating as all the money goes towards cancer research in an effort to obtain the appropriate methods and materials to help find a cure one day. Here is the link to donate- http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/goto/Rachel_DiTolla
Additionally, Coach Rob will be partnering with our fellow Master's swimmer, Kim Larsen, as a Kayaker for this summer’s Maggie Fischer Memorial Cross-Bay Swim! Please consider donating to their cause if possible at the following link: https://runsignup.com/Race/Donate/NY/Brightwaters/RaceJoybzqc8kq0ZQwm2D?runnerFundraiser=1L3rzmoAFxllTcu0
Thank you,
Coach Kyle
