Coach Kyle began his swimming career right here at the Sachem Swim Club. Kyle swam 7 years at SSC, 9 years competitively before graduating High School, and 5 of those years on the Sachem High School East Men’s Varsity program. Kyle began working as an Ocean Lifeguard and competing on the National level at the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) National Championships in 2009. Kyle went on to graduate from Sachem East in 2010 and earned a Swimming Scholarship to compete for The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights. While at Saint Rose, Kyle completed 4 years in the NCAA as a Distance Freestyle and Butterfly swimmer garnering over a dozen top-3 finishes, and several #1 finishes in the 200 Freestyle, 800 Freestyle Relays, and more in the NE-10 Conference. During this time, Kyle achieved several NCAA B-cut Standards. Throughout his career at The College of Saint Rose, Kyle continued to compete in the USLA, where he earned several Top-3 Finishes and #1 placing National Event titles at Various USLA National Championships. In 2012 Kyle was selected as a Member of the USLA High Point Squad, where he was recruited to compete on the World Level at the International Surf Lifesaving Association (ISLA) Championships in Adelaide, Australia.
During his college career, Kyle began coaching in a WSI class, as well as a Triathlete Club at Saint Rose and took a liking to working with the various levels of athletes, noting that regardless of age, fundamental understanding of the elements of each stroke was imperative for success as a swimmer. Following Kyle’s graduation from the College of Saint Rose, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Psychology in 2014, Kyle volunteered his time as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Golden Knights Men’s & Women’s swim teams. Upon graduation, Kyle began working for local club team, Islanders Aquatics, but quickly jumped back into the NCAA in 2015 as the Assistant Swim Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach at Long Island University: Post. During his 2-year stay at LIU Post, Kyle worked with and coached several NCAA Champions, All-Americans, and several 2016 Olympic Trial Qualifying Swimmers. LIU Post won both Conference Championships during Kyle’s stay with the program. In 2018, Kyle went on to Coach at Connetquot Swimming and Diving Club where he continued working as the Head Coach on the Junior Elite Program until 2021 under Head Program Coach, Alex Schicalone.
Kyle spends much of his time hiking with his wife, continuing to compete in swimming and lifeguard events, building and working on houses, and struggling to manage all of his many hobbies! Kyle is married to Brenna, his wife of 4 years, where they reside in Blue Point, NY.
Mr. Scott, as he prefers his swimmers to call him, has been involved with AAU and USA Swimming for 42 plus years. He was the President of the Three Village Swim Club for 8 years. During that time, he helped coach at times. He became a coach at Sachem Swim Club. He left Sachem and went to the Stony Brook Swim Club. When Stony Brook School closed their pool, Mr. Scott joined North Shore Swimming for 18 years, the last 7 as Co-Head Coach. He was selected as Person of the Year in Sports in 1999 by the Three Village Times newspaper. His high school career started with 9 years at the Academy of St. Josephs, winning Coach of the Year twice. He has been the Sachem North Girls Varsity Swim Coach for 17 years and the Boys Asst. Swim and Diving Coach for 13 years. He has volunteered coaching the JV team at North for 3 years. During his coaching career he has coached an Olympic Trial swimmer, many State Champions and All State Swimmers. Mr. Scott is willing to help any swimmer that needs help. He is most proud of his swimmers that have gone on to college and made careers, and now he is coaching some of their children! He hopes to continue coaching until his swimmers now have kids of their own that are swimming for SSC!
Coach Rob has been with the Sachem Swim Club since 2010. Rob comes from a running background where he has competed at local and large meets like the Millrose Games and Penn Relays running the sprints. To recover from sprinting injuries, Rob started swimming at the age of 40 with various Masters groups and then competing at US Masters events. Rob is also an avid open water swimmer and in 2018 placed 16th overall at the age of 54 at the 5.5 mile Maggie Fisher Cross Bay Swim in a time of 2:07. Rob continues to run competitive track and is also a nationally ranked triathlete and competes regularly in local and National triathlon events.
Rob has been an engineer at Brookhaven National Lab since 1987 and takes an analytical approach with careful attention to technique. First starting as an assistant with the senior group, Rob has helped numerous swimmers achieve their best performances, many making finals at State championships and also go on to swim at the NCAA level. After many years with the seniors, Rob transitioned to the lead the Developmental group and then lead the Novice group in 2022.
Coach Kirkland has been an active coach on Long Island for many years and comes with a love for the sport and instructing swimmers. Coach Kirkland most recently has been with the Huntington YMCA Bluefish and Farmingdale Aquatics. For those of you who don't know him personally, you will probably recognize him as the singing voice of the National Anthem at many swim meets.
Coach Kim has been an active member of Sachem Swim Club since 2012. Her daughter joined the team after North Shore Swim Club closed. In the spring of 2013 Kim was appointed as Club Liaison on the Sachem Swim Club Board. She enjoyed her time on the board but wanted to be more involved. In the summer of 2016 she took the necessary courses to become a USA Swimming Coach. In the spring of 2017 we had her intern for the club. She worked with all of the groups each week. Coach Kim was an age group swimmer from age 8-13. She was invited to the Empire State Games. After a very long hiatus she returned to swimming. She is a competitive swimmer for Seawolves Masters. She also enjoys open water swimming. She is very excited to be a part of the coaching staff this season!


Tara started swimming competitively at the age of 6 for Delmar Dolfins in Albany and fell in love with the sport. She competed at the varsity level for 5 years for the Bethlehem Eagles and was a NYS qualifier for 4 of those years.
Tara competed collegiately for the division 2 Le Moyne Dolphins in Syracuse where she was an NCAA Championship qualifier and multi-school and pool record holder. During her competitive years, Tara specialized in sprint and middle distance freestyle and backstroke events.
As a coach, Tara enjoys helping to develop well rounded athletes who compete across all strokes and distances. Tara comes to Sachem Swim Club with 3 years of coaching experience with the Delmar Dolfins while she was in law school.
Tara is a practicing attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorneys Office and currently lives in Lake Grove with her Fiance and will be getting married in late November. Tara is very excited to be part of the Sachem Swim Club and hopes to help the swimmers develop as much love for this sport as she has.
Coach Nicole started her swimming career in 2007 at the YMCA in Brooklyn, in 2011 she swam on the Saf-T Swim team and finally in 2015 Nicole joined Sachem Swim Club.
She joined her varsity team back in 2017 where she specialized in freestyle and competed at leagues and counties all four years. Nicole now is swimming at a division 3 level at St.Joseph's College where she helped break the 200 free relay record 3 weeks into her freshman season.
She is going to be studying forgien language and hopes to pursue a career as a English/Spanish medical interpreter.


Sayville Born and Raised, Tim graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelors degree in Communications. Additionally, Tim was named 2020 SUNY New Paltz Swim team Captain by his teammates. Over the course of his Swimming career at SUNY New Paltz, Tim was a 3X SUNYAC Finalist in the, 100 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, 800 Freestyle Relay.
Tim is currently in the United States Air Force training to become an Aerospace Medical Technician. His future plans are to join the FDNY after Air-Force training. Stecher is also a New York State EMT.
After joining the landline team, Tim fell in love with competing for Smith Point. Pretty soon he was able to amass several awards and accolades; 3X Nationals Finalist, 2 Landline and 1 in Rescue Race.
Tim has had over 100+ Career Rescues at Smith Point! Tim Said, “Swimming brought out the best in me, It taught me hard work triumphs over talent, team work beats out individualism and consistency is key.”
Coach Dylan began his swim career by participating in summer leagues throughout middle school, which is where he developed a love for the sport. Starting his freshman year of high school, Dylan began swimming for his high school team in Wantagh and the club team Express. Dylan specialized in breaststroke and even helped break the 200 medley relay record at his high school. Dylan now studies health sciences at Stony Brook University, where he is president of the Club Swim Team and continues to compete at meets such as the annual College Club Swimming National Championships. Over the summers, he works as a Jones Beach Lifeguard at field two, which is where he found his passion for helping people. His favorite part of coaching is seeing the swimmers achieve the goals they set for themselves and helping them anyway he can.
Brandon swam for SSC for 9 years. He
specialized in all 4 strokes, which is known as a
“everythinger”.
His dad Allen is still on the Sachem Swim Club board. Brandon still
holds multiple individual records on SSC along with helping set
multiple relay records as well.
Brandon is also a Jones Beach
Lifeguard, as he loves the beach along with helping people. He
wants to help the next generation of swimmers achieve their goals
and see the kids become the best swimmer they can
be.
Brandon is attending West Virginia University, where he is studying Sport Management and hopes to work in the MLB/NHL as GM or president.
