Mount Swimming & Diving Establishes Balance at American Relays
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 23rd, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's swimming and diving teams competed in the inaugural American University Relay's last night. The men's team finished fifth with a point total of 228, while the women finished tied with Howard for fourth with a point total of 234.
Per the women's team, their best placement was in the 3X100 freestyle relay in which Christina Lazari, Emily Myers, and Aracelli Skiles finished second with a finals time of 3:26.80. A notable finish for the Mountaineers includes the 400-yard medley, in which Gabrielle Joffrion, Aracelli Skiles, Hanna Aggen, and Julianna Veilleux finished fourth with a finals time of 4:28.79.
On the men's side, their best placement happened in the 3X100-yard breaststroke in which Jacob Wallace, Griffin Distler, and Aidan Grady finished third with a finals time of 2:57.04. A notable finish for the Mountaineers includes the 200 medley, in which Austin Toland, Lucas Hancock, Jason Fitch, and Nicholas Santorelli entered a finals time of 1:27.32, just under four seconds from the school record.

The next competition for men and women's swimming and diving marks the home-opener on October 6th, in Emmitsburg, Md. at the ARCC Swimming Pool at 1:00 p.m.
