Ad Astra Celebrates Swimming and Classroom Success at 2023 Golden Goggles
Our Golden Goggles Awards Banquet took place at the Jayhawk club this year as we hosted over 150 guests. We had an awesome time celebrating our yearly successes in the pool and the classroom. It was also an emotional event as we said goodbye to our 8 Seniors, six who are going on to compete collegiately in swimming. All swimmers were recognized and everyone received a team award medal. Below is a recap of our awards and recognitions.
Swim-A-Thon:
This year at our Annual Swim a Thon we had 60 swimmers help raise $14,558 dollars for Ad Astra. The Swim A Thon helps with Pool Space, Additional Deck Coaches, Team Activities, Team Prizes, Ad Astra Parties, Snacks for Swimmers, Keeps monthly dues low, Athlete Training Equipment, Scholarships for swimmers, and the USA Swimming Foundation.
We had such a great time watching all the swimmers complete as many length possible. The Swim A Thon is more than just donations- it’s about being together as a team. Our youngest swimmer, just 4 years old to our oldest swimmer 18 years old. Bradie Ward completed the most lengths at 420 Lengths! (That is over 6 miles of swimming in just 2 hours). We had 40 swimmers participate during the day and 60 swimmers collect donations. All donations make an impact on our team.
Highlights of the 2022 Swim A Thon:
- Gave away over $3,000 worth of prizes during the month leading up to the Swim A Thon.
- Had 6 swimmers ages 6 and under participate in the Swim A Thon from our Farm Pool.
- We swam 7035 lengths of the pool…that is 106.5 miles all together! WAY. TO. GO!
