Save the Date! Public Meeting to Discuss the New Pool in Joplin.

Below is the text from a press release sent by the City of Joplin.  It was requested that we have large numbers there to help to get this pool built the right way.  We need to let them know that the swim teams care and want this pool be built in the best way to suit everyone who will want to use it!  Let's make sure the Killer Whale presence is felt.

Citizens are invited to provide their input regarding a new aquatics facility by participating in a Public Meeting on Wednesday, February 22. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Joplin Athletic Complex, 3301 West 1st Street.

During the meeting, Water’s Edge, an aquatic facility engineering firm from Kansas City, Mo., will make a presentation on various options for the facility. Following this information, citizens are encouraged to participate in an interactive work session that will allow informal discussions on a one-to-one basis. All input will be gathered for the Parks and Recreation Board and Joplin City Council’s review.

Funding for the aquatic facility is available through the Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax renewal that Joplin voters passed in August 2011. The aquatic facility is proposed for a Memorial Day 2013 opening.
