More 2023 Districts Information -- Read Carefully!

Reid Carlson

Hello Swim Families,

Here is some quick information about Districts that was left out of the previous update.

  • First and formost, Districts is a 14 & Under meet now, meaning that no swimmers aged 15-years or older may compete.
  • If any 14 & Under swimmer holds a Champs cut in a given race, they may not swim that race at Distrticts as they are essentially "over-qualified." However, they may swim any event for which they hold a Districts cut but have not yet achieved a Champs cut.
  • The registration for Districts is live and the registration deadline is Sunday, February 5th.
  • This is a prelims/finals competition, meaning if a swimmer finishes TOP-8 in morning prelims then they advance to the finals.
    • All races 200-yards and longer for the 10 & Under age group will be swum as timed finals, and;
    • all races 500-yard and longer for all age groups will be swum as timed finals;
    • also, if a swimmer finishes.9th or 10th in the morning prelims they will be listed as an alternate for finals, meaning they must either show up for finals or scratch before the prelims session has ended; and
    • all Friday events will be conducted as timed finals.
  • There will be a minimum of 2 hours between the end of the Preliminaries and the beginning of the Finals. Actual starting time for Finals will be announced prior to the conclusion of the preliminaries session.
  • Saturday & Sunday prelims warmups will begin as early as 7:00 am, and the meet will start at 9:00 am. Exact warmup info will be emailed once we have it.
  • Swimmers may enter a maximum of 3 individual events per day and 7 individual events for the entire competition.
  • Each swimmer achieving and entering a minimum of one District qualifying time shall be allowed to enter a maximum of two (2) bonus events in which he/she has not achieved the District qualifying time. Swimmers wishing to enter a bonus event must have a provable time in that event, NT will not be permitted.
    • Bonus entries are only permitted for 50, 100 and 200 yard events.
