EKC Last Chance Meet Results Summary
Hello Swim Families!
Congratulations to all swimmers who competed at the EKC Last Chance Meet in Lenexa this past weekend! I would like to take some time to highlight some of the greatest accomplishments achieved by our swimmers.
Congratulations to…
- Ishaan Vinod on qualifying for Missouri Valley Champs in the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke! Ishaan dropped 24 seconds in the 200 backstroke to undercut the Champs cut by 9 seconds, and 15 seconds in the 200 breast to touch the wall a full 3 seconds under the Champs cut!
- Willow Graves on achieving a lifetime best by 3.6 seconds in the 200 freestyle, dropping a 2:06.73 to come in a full second under the Champs qualifying time. (This is especially impressive as it is extremely difficult for swimmers over the age of 12 to drop time in-season without rest or shaving.)
- Willow also placed 2nd in the 400 freestyle, the highest individual finish of any Marlin that competed in the meet.
- Ava McKee for shaving 38 seconds in the 400 freestyle, 7.5 seconds in the 100 freestyle, and over 8 seconds in both the 100 breast and 100 back.
- Max Dunn for taking an entire week off to go to Boy Scout camp and still shave 3 seconds from his lifetime best in the 200 freestyle.
- Delaney Saucier for taking over 3 seconds off her previous lifetime best in the 100 backstroke, even after going to the Taylor Swift concert the night before.
- Ayana Dominghini for achieving 11-12 Districts cuts in the 50 freestyle.
- Catalina Gonzalez, the only 10 & Under Marlin in the competition, who swam the 50 fly, 50 free, 100 breast, and 100 back.
The Marlins will race in two swim meets this week. First, on Thursday evening in McPherson at the Aqua Pups Last Chance meet, and on Saturday at the Sunflower Games.
Next weekend, June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, the Marlins will compete at the Missouri Valley District Championships (Central), in Lenexa. The final weekend of the month, June 27 – 30, we will compete in our end-of-season championships meet, the Missouri Valley Open Championships, in Topeka.
See you at the pool!
