A Swim Meet and a Special 10 & Under Clinic

Hello Swim Families!

Topic 1: Legends Invitational

Please register for the upcoming Legends Invitational, hosted by the wonderful Wichita Swim Club! The meet will take place November 10th, 11th, and 12th. The event is posted under the Events page on the team website.

This is the final swim meet any boys competing in high school season can compete in before the season starts on Monday, November 13th. This means that, from November 13th through February 17th, the only individual events your high school swimmers will be able to race in competitions are the 50/100/200/500 freestyles, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, and 200 IM.

For reference, USA Swimming and World Aquatics recognizes 18 individual events in short course swimming, and 17 individual events in long course swimming. In high school swimming, athletes are only allowed to participate in 8 individual events. The NCAA--Divisions 1 & 3--by contrast, recognize 14 individual events, whereas Division 2 recognizes 15 individual events....

Needless to say, high school swimming is a lot of fun and a great experience, but it is merely a small sampling of the sport of competitive swimming! (And diving... that's another beast altogether, though outside of our purview.)

Topic 2: MV Future Stars 10 & Under Camp

If you have a 10 & Under swimmer who would like to interact with other 10 & Unders and learn from coaches from across Missouri Valley, sign them up for the Missouri Valley 10 & Under Future Stars Camp!

This event is open to all 10 & Unders who are still 10 years or younger as of December 10th, 2023.

Coach Reid, unfortunately, cannot coach this camp due to a Carlson family Christmas, though he will highly encourage the other Marlins coaches to apply for the coaching staff!

This clinic will focus on starts, turns, camaraderie, and fun! Each participant will also receive a camp swim cap and t-shirt! And, it only costs $15!
