Technical Focus: Recovery, Holding Water, Rotation, Starts & Turns

Conditioning Focus: Main Taper

Hello Swim Families!

Congratulations to every swimmer who competed at Missouri Valley Districts Championships in Wichita! We saw many best times and picked up a few new Champs cuts. Speaking of, this weekend, starting Thursday evening, is our final meet of the season, the Missouri Valley Long Course Championships!

To prepare for this competition we will decrease our training volume for the swimmers competing at the meet by about 30 percent starting Tuesday, with an emphasis on speed and specific race preparation.

Technically, we will focus breakouts, holding water, rotation, and starts and turns. When these factors combine, they enable fast swimming!

Taper, for those who are not familiar with the term, means we decrease training volume to show up to our championship meet rested and ready to race!

Coach Reid will be with the Champs crew Thursday evening, and all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, meaning Coach Myles will be running the show on Friday.

Regardless of whether you have a swimmer competing, you are welcome and encouraged to come and cheer on our swimmers at Champs in Topeka!

Congratulations to all the swimmers who have qualified for Champs and thank you to their parents, families, and other supporters for helping them reach this point!

See you at the pool!
