MANHATTAN MARLINS

Board Update

Tim Steffensmeier

Hello Marlins Swim Team:
On behalf of the Manhattan Marlins board, thank you for being a part of our vibrant swim team. New swimmers, lots of best times at meets, and full practices give us much to celebrate during this upcoming holiday season.

Updates:

1) Holiday practice schedule. There will be no practice on Dec. 24, 25, 26, 31, or Jan. 1. Practices will occur at the regular time and place during the winter break.

2) Bookkeeping assistance is needed. We need help entering monthly financial transactions in QuickBooks. This role will assist our board Treasurer. We anticipate the commitment to be one hour per week. If you or someone in your family can help, please reach out to Mary Cain at [email protected]. Thanks in advance; we are a volunteer, parent-run team!

3) Safe Sport Team: We highly recommend parents and swimmers over 12 familiarize yourself with our SafeSport policies and complete the training. The Manhattan Marlins strive to be a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes and works in accordance with USA Swimming's Safe Sport guidelines. Safe Sport is a commitment to providing a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members. USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, a comprehensive abuse prevention program, consists of a multi-layered approach to keep kids safe, including: required policies and best practice guidelines; mandatory screening, including criminal background checks and employment screening; training and education; monitoring, supervision and mandatory reporting.  These measures are informed by experts in the field of child safety and are among the strongest safeguards found in youth-serving organizations. Further resources for Safe Sport and USA Swimming's athlete protection recommendations and procedures are provided on our team website: https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/mvmm/page/safe-sport

Best wishes,

Marlins Board
