MANHATTAN MARLINS

Warmup Schedule: 2025 SCY Districts Championships (Updated)

Reid Carlson

Hello swim families!

Below is the warmup information for the upcoming Districts Championships in Topeka!

This is a revision as the previous email incorrectly stated that the West Pool had blue lane lines when in fact it has RED lane lines.

As always, all swimmers must be on time for warmups! If a swimmer misses warmups, coaching resources cannot be spared to supervise them once the session has begun as the coach present must be available to prep, watch, and provide feedback to swimmers as they race.

The Marlins have no relays at this meet—all swimmers are competing in individual events only. Nonetheless, we are a TEAM and will support one another positively and enthusiastically!

As a member team of Missouri Valley and a prominent participant in this competition, we are required to provide two timers minimum at the meet. One Marlins parent or family member must volunteer during each prelims session on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Timer Assignments
    • Saturday Prelims: 1 Marlins volunteer, Lane 7
    • Sunday Prelims: 1 Marlins volunteer, Lane 3

Remember that the meet cannot start until all timers are accounted for. Furthermore, if our team does not step up to time, they will call us out over the PA system and demand that someone accept the responsibility.

Timing is simple and fun. You will have the opportunity to get to know a swim parent from another team and have the best seats in the house.

Speaking of seats…

No wet swimmers are allowed in the stands!

There is a swimmer-only crash area on the south end of the facility. Parents are NOT ALLOWED behind the blocks (unless they’re timing) or on the south end of the facility where the coaches sit. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Coach Reid will be stationed on the south end of the pool. Per usual, a best times poster will be on the wall for swimmers to sign when they achieve lifetime bests in their events.

If a swimmer qualifies for finals and NO-SHOWS a race, they will be fined $100 and DISQUALIFIED FROM THE REST OF THE MEET!

If a swimmer misses an event in prelims there is no penalty, though this is poor form—if a swimmer must miss an event, it is best courtesy to inform the officials before the race.

Another thing… each day of the meet has its own THEME!

  • Friday, February 14: Beach Day!
    • Wear your best beach-ready outfit! Swimsuits are a given—forget about the snow and bring your flip-flops and sunglasses!
  • Saturday, February 15th: PJ Day!
    • How convenient is it that you can literally just roll out of bed and be in the theme?!
  • Sunday, February 16th: Neon Day!
    • Some of the happiest places on the planet are blanketed by neon lights. Bring that energy on Sunday!

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll see you at the pool!
