Considering a Swim Camp? Try Jayhawk Swim Camp, May 26 - 30!
Hello Swim Families!
As we continue the preparation for the long course season, I would like to encourage all swimmers ages 8- to 12-years-old to attend the Jayhawk Swim Camp, May 26 - 30 in Lawrence, KS!
This is an excellent time to go to a swim camp as it does not interfere with any swim meets, and it takes place the week before we move to City Park Pool.
Furthermore, the KU Women's swim team will once again be joining us at the Little Apple Invitational this year--swimmers will have a chance to learn from the KU women and then race their coaches/counselors at our meet!
Clark Campbell, the head coach at KU, has done great things to build up that program over the years and runs a great swim camp. Before the Power 5 conferences were realigned to the current Power 4, KU was one of only a handful of varsity teams remaining in the Big 12 conference.
I first went to swim camp when I was 12-years-old (Husker Swim Camp at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln), and it was an incredible experience. Swimmers have the chance to be fully immersed in the sport for an entire week and have access to training resources we do not.
Swimmers do not have to have achieved any certain time standards to go to this camp, they simply have to be willing to show up, listen, work hard, and have fun!
This swim camp will focus primarily on technique as opposed to conditioning, though with a minimum of two practices per week, they will get plenty of water time!
While I have never been to the KU Swim Camp, many Marlins families have, so if you have questions, ask around!
See you at the pool!
