Hello Swim Families!
Week five of our 2025-2026 indoor season is already here and now we will shift our focus to breaststroke! We have held off on breaststroke until now as it is the most complex of the four strokes from a technical level! Breaststroke kick can be very difficult to master. This week, we will focus a lot on breaststroke kick, body position, and the overall timing of the stroke. Head position while breathing will also be a focus of our training. Underwater pull-outs are also vital, and we’ll spend some time on that part of the stroke as well, though delve into it more in later weeks.
Regarding the conditioning focus, Platinum will spend significant time working on race pace swimming—high-intensity swimming with ample rest. As each week goes on, the rest time will decrease, allowing athletes to adapt to swimming at optimal racing speed while increasing their endurance and VO2 Max.
The Blue group will continue to build aerobic endurance and do some speed work, While White and Minnows will focus on technical proficiency and mastery of breaststroke.
Don’t forget to register for our upcoming swim meets, specifically, the TSA Spooktacular in Topeka and the Legends Invitational in Wichita!
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll see you at the pool!
