Brian Crawford
New England 11-14 Age Group Championships:  Wellesley, Mass.

Spectacular job to all swimmers competing for ESC at the New England 11-14 Age Group meet in Boston, Mass.  Showing outstanding quality, every individual qualifier swam a best time, and qualified for finals!
"SWIM OF THE MEET" again had many choices, but the winner is the final 13-14 boys relay team of  Aidan Chapman, Dylan Belair, Caden Chang, and  Jack Ablondi. They destroyed the team record of eight years back by almost five full seconds with a stunning podium finish with each swimmer going a best.  There time of 3:22.83 was a great lesson of working together as a team.  Way to go!
Individually,  Dylan Belair had five top ten finishes in the 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 1650 Free with all best times.  He dropped 21 alone in his opening 1650 on Thursday.   Caden had two top ten finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Breast, and also swam in the consols of his remaining events:  200 Breast, 100 Fly (best time of 56.66), 50 and 100 Free, and 200 Fly).  His opening split on the 800 Free Relay, was a five second drop in the 200 Free.   Jack Ablondi scored points and did bests in the 1000 and 1650 Frees, but saved his best event for last.  He finished 12th in the 200 Breast, dropping 4 seconds!   Aidan Chapman had a top ten finish in the 200 Fly, and also dropped four seconds in the 500 Free and six in the 1000.
For the girls,  Hannah Baron made a major breakthrough in making her first Senior qualifying times.  She did it in both breaststroke events:  The 100 in 1:10.55, and the 200 in 2:32.09.  She also swam a best in the 50 Freestyle, 25.91.   Sofia Tovtyn continued her amazing improvement this season.  Her improvement had her in five finals, four of them in the Championship.  In never swimming in Age Groups before, she moved up her seedings dramatically, dropping six seconds alone in swimming in the Championship final of the 200 Freestyle (2:06.75).
Also for 11-12's, both  Zoe Chun and  Vivian Carleton both finaled in their Butterfly events.  Zoe, dropping from a 31 to a 29.94 in the 50, and Vivian in the 100, swimming a 1:09.39.   Kaitlyn Bilsbury swam on both relays for the 11-12 girls, with best times in both the 50 Backstroke and 50 Free.   Maecyn White swam on both 13-14 Mixed Relays, both in the point scoring.  Her 50 Backstroke leadoff was over four seconds faster than her time last season.
