Phillips Andover Trials/Finals Report!
Phillips Andover Trials/Finals, November 21-23:
Spectacular job to ESC for an amazing performance in this mid- November meet! ESC shined in all age groups, both trials & finals! It’s always great to get all age groups together in this meet performance, and helps with all the great swims (………the “phone box” did contribute too)……………
In a very tight race for “Swim of the Meet” ESC does need to look at everything………………..Coaches got it down to THREE OUTSTANDING PREFORMANCES/MVP’s:
……... COLIN TURNER qualified for his first New England Seniors in the prelims of the 200 Backstroke. With prelims and again in finals, he dropped over 5 seconds to make the cut! He also added the 100 Back on Sunday.
ESC team records are hard to come by! CHARLOTTE CHANG broke a 12-year old team mark in the 50 Butterfly for 11-12 girls! She had seven overall best times, 6 in first place!........ EDWARD GOUCHER: Edward dug down deep to drop 1.8 seconds to make his first Seniors in the 100 Breaststroke by nailing down the exact cut time!
…… not to be outdone: MAIA SEGARCEANU qualified for her first ever Age Groups in the finals of the 50 Breaststroke, and ZOE CHUN also made her first 13-14 cut in the 50 Butterfly. Great job girls!
Also making new cuts were: Jack Ablondi (SECTIONALS in the 1000 Free, and new Senior times in the 200 Back, 400 IM, 200 + 500 Frees) His 1000 time was also a top 10 ESC time. Hannah Baron added Senior cuts in the 1650 Free (also ESC top 10), 200 Back, 200 Fly, and 500 Free. Her 1000 time was also ESC top 10. Emma Conway added a third Sectional cut in the 100 Back, and Seniors in both the 100 + 200 Frees. Other new cuts were: Andrew Gordon (100 Breast), Addi Ebol (200 Fly), Tyler Chun (200 Free), Alex Uhlmann (200 IM). New Age Group times were: Sofi Tovtyn (1000 Free, dropping 1:00!) and August Swinehart (50 Breast and 100 Fly). Gordon (400 IM), Will Erdtmann (50 Fly), Emmie Goucher (200 Back). Lucas Anderson, Baron , Caden Chang (50 Free), T. Chun, Erdtmann, Em. Goucher, Wyatt Wiggin and Isla Robinson all won individual events.
Best times were all around with Grace Ablondi (5), Anderson (7, -25 400 IM, -9 200 Free), Kailtyn Bilsbury (4), Gabe Brelsford (3), Vivian Carlton (4), Riley Chandler (2), Grace Gauthier (5), Elin Metcalfe (6), Janith Khadka (3), Selma Kruscica (4), Robinson (6), Paisley Silva (6), Charlotte Thompson (6), Connor Welch (5), Maecyn White (3), and Wiggin (6).
Some of the largest drops were: Natalie Thompson (-11 200 Breast), Lucas Davenport (-7 500 Free, -6 100 Breast), Liam Guanci (09 100 Breast, -8 50 Fly), Lorelei Brown (-10 200 Free), Henry Bump (-16 200 Free), Elaina Kelliher (-8 100 Breast), Madison Hunter (-9 200 Free), Brooks Hardie (-13 200 Back, -6 200 Breast and -11 500 Free), Alex Ionescu (-7 200 Breast), and Austin Booth (-13 200 Free).
