12 & Under Championship Saturday
Saturday was a big day for EST at the 12 & under championships with nine athletes competing.
The day started with the boys 200 Free: Andrew Benson posted a best time in 2:40.20, Tony Min finished with a 2:37.52, and Thomas Choquette qualified for finals with a best time of 2:26.35. In the final Thomas was able to take off another 3 seconds to finish with a 2:23.34 which was only .2 off of the team record!
Our lone competitor in the 100 fly was Tony who finished in 1:26.77.
We had five athletes in the 100 back: Andrew posted a 1:26.24, Max Reich cut 3 seconds of his best posting a 1:23.09, Thomas also had a personal best in 1:20.45. Ethan had a best time in prelims with a 1:16.59 which qualified him for finals, in the final he dropped another second to finish in 1:15.50 which placed him 10th overall! In the 10 & under division Elizabeth Bencze posted a 1:37.62.
There were six EST swimmers in the 50 breast. For the 11-12 boys Max posted a best time in 44.18, Tony finished in 44.82 and Ethan posted a best at 39.72. For the 10 & under’s Elizabeth finished at 49.92, Megan Metivier had a best time in 51.34 and Julia Wagner posted a 52.47.
Finishing out the finals session was the 400 Medley relay where Ethan, Max, Thomas and Tony placed 16th overall in 5:24.36. Tomorrow will be the last day of competition, GO EST!
