Ashley Vieira Head Coach

Ashley started the JCC Sea Serpents in 2012 with just 10 swimmers and has grown the team to more than 100 swimmers. In that time, the team has had multiple athletes place in the Top 10 in New England Swimming for their age group as well as multiple Zone and USA Speedo Sectional Qualifiers. Before working at the JCC, Ashley was the Aquatics Director at the Kroc Center in Boston, the city's first water park, as well as a swim instructor and pool manager for MIT Rec. Sports. Ashley also coached and taught swim lessons for Bluefish Swim Club (the former team of Olympian Elizabeth Beisel) for seven years. Ashley swam competitively starting at the age of six. She swam for Ocean State Squids out of Brown University as well as for her high school Coyle and Cassidy where she was a State Qualifier. Ashley graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography. She coaches primarily Senior Black and Mini White groups of the swim team. Ashley is also the Head Coach for Swampscott High School and was elected NEC Coach of the year for the teams undefeated 2020-21 season. Ashley is an ASCA Level 3, and USA Certified Swim Coach.

Brandon O'Donnell Assistant Coach

Brandon O’Donnell has been a lead swim instructor at the JCC since 2013 and is currently our Aquatics Manager. During his time at the JCC he started Olympic Way, our Special Olympic swim team. Brandon has a passion for coaching young athletes. He used to be a farm league head coach and assistant coach for Little League in Chelsea. Brandon also was on their board of directors from 2012-2014.  He is passionate about the sport of swimming and spreading his love of the sport with the youth of our community.  Brandon coaches Olympic Way, and Mini Green groups of the swim team. 

Rachel Kidd Levy Assistant Coach

Rachel began swimming competitively for the JCC Piranhas at age 5. By age 11, she was volunteering as a swim coach for the team. Rachel leads the JCC Jellies swim team during the summer session, and coaches Age Group Green during the school year. Rachel has always had a passion for coaching kids and helping them improve their technique. Rachel spent nearly ten years teaching dance to children, while also coaching and teaching swim lessons. While living in Florida, Rachel worked as a private swim instructor and coach for the JCC in Tampa. Rachel loves teaching and being in the water and is excited to improve the team while having fun!

Rich Denton Assistant Coach

Rich has spent most of his life in and around the water. Growing up, he spent much of his time swimming, racing and teaching sailing, windsurfing, and racing triathlons. As an age group and senior swimmer some of his achievements include podium finishes at state Age Group and Senior Championships, qualifying for the Speedo Championship Series “Super Sectionals” and Zones meets, and being named captain of his high school swimming and sailing teams. In college, Rich swam on a Franklin and Marshall College record breaking 800 Freestyle relay team, and was named team captain and Most Valuable Swimmer in his senior year. Rich continues to swim today, though less competitively. He does continue to race sailboats, windsurfs and runs in local events. He lives in Salem with his wife and their two cats. Rich joined our team in 2021 and primarily coaches Senior Green. 

Amy Leveroni Assistant Coach

Amy started swimming at age 6, swam for a USA swimming club team year round, then for Palmyra High School, swam collegiately for D1 Brown University, and now swims for YNS Masters, where she currently holds mulitple top ten times. Amy has been coaching MHS school track since 2019.  Amy lives in MHD with her husband and 4 boys, who’s ages range from 15-22. Amy's son Brady is a member of our Senior White group. Amy is the lead coach for Age Group White. Amy is passionate about the sport or swimming and helping each indivdual swimmer achieve their goals. 

Michelle Franklin Assistant Coach

Michelle is a former swimmer who competed at the D1 collegiate, USA Swimming national (800 free relay), Illinois state (500 free), and Central sectional (breaststroke, distance freestyle) levels. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, she started swimming competitively in 6th grade at Patriot Aquatic Club and made varsity all 4 years of high school on a very competitive team (Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, IL). She was the head 8&U coach at a summer swim team (Lincolnshire Swim Club) where her group of 20+ swimmers consistently won their age group at conference finals. She absolutely loves swimming and is excited to help everyone reach their full potential while having fun. Michelle resides in Marblehead with her husband, Chris, and English Bulldog, Pearl. Michelle coaches primariliy Age Group Green and Senior White groups of the team. 

Jenny Luker Assistant Coach

Jenny’s aquatics career spans four decades and includes stints as a college and Masters swimmer, swim parent and USA Swimming, ASCA Level II certified coach.

As a college athlete she was conference champion and record holder for the Kenyon College swim team, the most decorated college swim team in history with 50+ national team titles. As a USMS Masters swimmer she is a national champion, USMS All American and World Record Holder. Jenny also swims open water events, most recently as participant in 22-mile Boston Harbor Relay sponsored by Swim Across America to raise money for cancer research.

Jenny has more than 15 years’ experience as a swim parent.  She’s  provided material and emotional aid needed to help shepherd her two children, Danielle and Charlie, from age group athlete to NCAA All American swimmers at Kenyon and Amherst Colleges, respectively.

Jenny enjoys working with swimmers of all ages and skill levels and believes that development of excellent swim technique, and a strong, healthy mental approach to swimming is the best way to contribute to the success of JCC athletes as they train to meet their goals. Jenny is our team's substitue coach and covers practices for all groups of the team, wherever is needed. 

 

Mistral Dodson Volunteer

Mistral is a JCC Sea Serpent parent to Koa. She grew up living on a boat, so swimming, snorkeling, and the ocean have always been a part of her life. Once landbound in Australia at the age of 12, she started the swim team for her local high school team. Mistral is a natural educator, having been a teacher for the last 20 years. She has coached the Mystic Hammerheads, and the Mystic Triathlon Club and hosted swim races in the past. Today she helps coach Age Group Green alongside Rachel.
