WELCOME to the 2025-2026 YNS Swim Season!!!

Dave Modzelewski

Good Evening YNS Families,

Welcome to the 2025 - 2026 season!  We hope everyone had a great August and are excited for Practices and Swim Meets to start soon! We had our most successful season so far and we are looking forward to building on that success with all of you!

Our Coaching Staff is itching to get back onto the pool deck with all of you and get back to teaching what we love most…SWIMMING!

Please read the rest of this newsletter thoroughly, as there are many important topics for you to know about as we head into next week.

Our first Practices of the season begin on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd!

Practices Schedules

  • All Schedules for each of our Locations are posted on our Practices Schedule page
  • If there are ever any changes to the practice schedule, we will do our best to give as much notice as possible. There are instances where weather or accidents at the pool prevent our Coaching Staff from giving too much notice, but we will do our best to keep you informed of any changes via email.
  • If you ever have any questions about practice days and/or times, or may be looking for a different accommodation, please contact your Lead Site Coach,
  • We are always willing to accommodate if it’s possible, and will work with you to figure out the best solution.

Meets and Events

  • Our 2025-2026 Meets & Events Schedule is is posted on the Meets & Events page
  • Here are a few reminders regarding the calendar:
  • This is a working calendar. You will receive an email for each event your swimmer is invited to attend, but some events may be added, taken down, or substituted throughout the season.
  • As details for events are published, the calendar will be updated to include registration deadlines and link to the sign up.
  • If you have questions about whether an event is appropriate for your swimmer to attend, please reach out to your Lead Site Coach.
  • This year, upcoming events will also be posted in the “Team Events” section of the homepage. Please mark your calendars and keep an eye out in your inbox for event registration information.

Team Suit Fitting, Breakfast, & Parent Meetings

  • We will be holding an event at the Gym up on top of the hill at the Beverly YMCA on Saturday, Sept 6th. There is already an event email that you should have received regarding this event, if you have not, all details can be found here:
  • We will put an extra important note about the Parent Meetings we will be holding, and that you should certainly attend for more information on the team, the season, and swimming in general. More information for your swimmers group Parent Meeting can be found at the link above.
  • We will have our Team Vendor on site which will have all sorts of things you’ll need for the upcoming Season
  • Please see our Equipment List for what items we would like your Swimmers to have for the upcoming season
  • If you have any equipment that you have outgrown, please feel free to bring it with you and donate it to a new swimmer, or we will give it to those in need on your behalf.
  • Please make sure that you look at our Job SignUp page for donations and other help that we are looking for in order to help run a smooth and successful event!

**For any and all apparel items, please make sure that you are purchasing YNS branded materials sold by either our Team Vendor (Varsity Swim Shop) or Arena. You should not, under any circumstances, take our logo and create your own items. The YMCA has strict branding rules and guidelines that we must follow whenever we create a new item. If you are interested in creating an item, that idea should be brought to Coach Dave & Arthur Athanas for approval and creation.**

YMCA Membership / Daxko:

  • Prior to Tuesday, please make sure that your YMCA Membership is in good standing, otherwise your Swimmer will not be allowed to participate in practice
  • This Daxko system where your Membership resides, will be the same system we use for all of our Program Fees billing (aka Swim Team Registration)
  • You can expect your first round of payments to billed on September 15th. And then November 15th, & January 15th (& March 15th for PreTeam only). If you inquired about some other form of payment structure, that has already been set up for you.
  • If you ever have any questions about your Membership, please contact your Lead Site Coach, and we will direct you to the appropriate YMCA Employee who can help you.

TeamUnify / YNS Website:

  • This Team website is a totally unrelated website to Daxko & Membership related items
  • The Team website is the main source for your Swim Team information, and is where you will sign up for Swim Meets, Volunteering Shifts, Social Events, etc. We will also do Swim Meet Billing through this website, as well as your USA Swimming Membership billing (as you may have seen from the registration process).
  • If you have any questions about Swim Team related activities, please contact your Lead Site Coach, and we will answer all of your questions!
  • Please do not contact the YMCA Front Desk or other Departments, as they do not have access to our Team Website.

Safesport Course

  • Our team takes pride in being a SafeSport recognized club by USA Swimming each year. Although SafeSport training is mandatory for all coaches, officials, and athletes 18 & over, we find this training beneficial for all parents, as well as swimmers ages 13-17.
  • Completing this training not only provides you and your swimmer(s) with informative safety information, but also helps us earn our SafeSport recognition and continue to run meets each year. Below are steps for accessing the training through the USA Swimming portal:
  • Parents
    • Please visit USA Swimming and log in to your account.
    • Once you have logged in, click on the Education tab and Select Course Catalog
    • Search for “Parents Guide to Misconduct in Sport” in the search bar
    • Click on the course when it comes up and then select “START”
  • Minor Athletes (17/Under)
    • All athletes taking SafeSport training must have their own Minor Athlete USA Swimming account (within the parent account). If your athlete has not set up their Minor Athlete USA Swimming account, please visit the link below.
    • Once your child is logged in have them go to the Education tab and select Course Catalog
    • Search for “Safe Sport Training for Youth Athletes” in the search bar
    • Click on the course when it comes up and the select “START”
  • Certifications from the courses are good for two full years from the date of completion. For any questions about SafeSport training, please reach out to our SafeSport Coordinator, Coach Garreth ([email protected]).
