Introducing Our Elite 18U Boys Team: The Beast Boys

Dear North Irvine Water Polo Club Families,

Over the past few weeks, many of you—both parents and athletes—have asked about our 18U boys team. Today, I’m excited to share some incredible news and formally introduce The Beast Boys!

This elite 18U team represents the best of our club and the broader water polo community in California. The Beast Boys are a powerhouse squad made up of former North Irvine standouts and some of the state’s top players. Our mission with this team is clear: to compete at the highest national level and continue showcasing the exceptional talent that has been cultivated right here in our area.

The Beast Boys roster includes exceptional athletes who will be continuing their water polo careers at top collegiate programs this fall:

    •    Luke Harris – USC

    •    Sam Bowman – UCI

    •    Colt Bradley – USC

    •    Gavin Conant – USC

    •    Milan Sumich – Cal

    •    Reed Hanna – USC

    •    Beck Early – Santa Clara

    •    Jacob Carrera – UC Davis

    •    Jackson Harlan – UCSB

    •    Max Burstein – Pepperdine

    •    Saul Biddle – Pepperdine

    •    Kyson Becker – UCSD

    •    Camden Kocur – TBA

    •    Brian Barnuevo – UCSB

    •    Toko Bakradze – TBA

    •    Ronin Araucto – Augustana

Many of these players were key members of our 2021 Junior Olympics 14U Gold Medal Championship team and have earned spots at some of the nation’s most prestigious collegiate programs. Seeing them return to compete at this elite level is a full-circle moment for me and a testament to the strength of our North Irvine Water Polo family.

The Beast Boys will be led by an outstanding coaching staff:

    •    Head Coach: Ed Carrera (that’s me!)

    •    Assistant Coaches: Steve Carrera, Ryan Tunstall, and Mark Alvarado

Our first official competition will be in the Futures League, with matches kicking off at Westlake High School. I invite you all to come out and support these athletes as they embark on what promises to be a remarkable season.
