Dear Team,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Congratulations to everyone for making the first half of the season so successful!  As I have reviewed our swimmers’ results across the first wave of meets this season, it’s fulfilling to see such strong participation, improvement and impressive meet results for so many of our athletes!  You can view the PDF results for past and archived meets and these can be searched for as well.   And it looks like the majority of you are setting your swimmers up to potentially be eligible for the championships by competing in three closed meets.  The standards for the championships are saved on TU and in the meets as well.

Here are some reminders, updates, and other guidelines as we move forward through a very busy second half.

  • Senior 1 and Junior 1 practice tomorrow, Friday, December 1 will be held like normal.  While all other groups’ practices are cancelled due to the Bowling event, which has over 200 registered!  Should be a blast!
  • Senior 1 practice for this Saturday morning, December 2nd, will be combined with Junior 1 from 9:45-11:15.
  • Practice for Novice 2 will be held on this Saturday, December 2.
  • Practices on this Sunday, December 3 for all groups are cancelled due to the fact that so many will be competing at the Blizzard meet.
  • For swimmers at the Blizzard meet, especially our younger swimmers, I’m asking that the athletes and parents carefully review the entry report saved on TU before the meet, so that the athletes know what they are swimming.  If possible, please have your younger athletes write down their events and event numbers on a paper card and put them in a plastic sandwich bag with a crayon, so that when the heat sheets are released at the meets they can write down their heat and lanes for those events.  You will see young swimmers write their event info on their arms with markers as well.
  • Please be sure your swimmers wear warm clothing during the meets, especially while waiting in the Gymnasium.
  • Parents/Caregivers at the Blizzard meet, please see the Jobs Signup.  We currently have openings to fill.
  • The Blizzard meet pool at GMY is 25 Meters, which is slightly longer than our normal 25 Yard pools.  Their times from this meet will be converted to Yards for official purposes and that is done automatically within the apps.
  • Merchandise orders that were not picked up yet are in the swim team’s closet on the pool deck at the Park Street location.  Please plan to go on deck during one our practice times and ask the Coach Madison or Coach Kyle to open the closet to find yours.
  • Please be sure your athletes dress in warm winter clothing when they arrive and leave the Y during these colder months.  I’ve seen many of our athletes leaving wet and under dressed.
