Dear Team,

Here is the latest news as of today.  There is a lot of information here, so thank you in advance for reviewing this and keeping it on file.  In fact, this newsletter will be attached to our website as well.

  • MYM kicked off our Dual Meet season in exciting fashion on Saturday with countless razor close finishes (and a few ties!) and strong overall wins for the Girls versus West Essex Y (218 to 118) and then the Boys versus Greater Morristown Y (232 to 142).  Results are attached here and on the meets on TU (our TeamUnify website – see past events).  They can also be seen on your swimmers’ records on TU.  I’ve also attached a report showing our swimmers’ qualifications for the season ending champs meets already. Thanks to our many volunteers.
  • The GSCY Champions Classic meet timeline, psych sheet, warmup times for swimmers, and our volunteer timing assignments are posted to the meet now on TU (see those attachments and details there).  Volunteer jobs will be created soon on TU, so please plan to sign up to time on TU this week.
  • MYM’s entries for the Spooky Sprints, First Frost and Autumn Challenge were accepted by the hosts. These meet details will be posted to TU as we receive them, so please check there and your emails for meet details.
  • For your planning purposes, always assume practices will be held unless you receive a notification of cancellation either via email or in newsletters.  Feel free to write the coaches if you’re unsure.  Having said that, here are some upcoming cancellations at this point.
  • Senior 1 and Junior 1 practices are cancelled on Saturday 10/19 due to the Champions Classic meet. 
  • Senior 2 will be cancelled on Sunday 10/20 due to the Champions Classic meet that day. 
  • Novice 1 practices on Sunday, 10/27, are cancelled due to the Spooky Sprints.
  • Practices will be cancelled on Halloween for all groups.
  • Sunday, November 2nd: Junior 2, Junior 3 and Novice 1 practices are cancelled due to the First Frost Meet.  Senior 2 will have practices.
  • All practices will be cancelled on Saturday and Sunday November 23rd & 24th on account of the HCY Autumn Challenge.
  • A Thanksgiving week practice schedule will be sent out in due course.
  • Waivers: photos will be taken of your swimmers’ training groups on a day TBD soon, right after parent liaisons pass out their new Dolphins team t-shirts.  If we do not have your signed photo release waivers in paper from last season or recent events or you have not signed this waiver with our membership department already, you will receive a separate email from me.  If you receive this email, please see the front desk at our Park Street Y or call the membership dept ASAP this week to agree to this waiver with them.  We want to update our team pictures on our social feed ASAP.
  • Attendance: Parents and athletes can view swimmer practice attendance records on your swimmer’s account on Team Unify.  I ask that our seniors and junior parents, in particular, be aware of your swimmers’ actual attendance at practices by reviewing this feature on TU.
  • Behavior:  As Y members, we have a Code of Conduct.  I’ve attached a copy of this code as a reminder that our athletes and members top priority is to behave in alignment with the Y’s values, while at the Y itself or outside (online, if ever).  Our Y membership records include both our photo release waiver and this code of conduct.  Similarly, if you have not agreed to this during the enrollment process with our membership department, I’ll indicate this for your records.
