Olympic Trial Cuts, New Team Records, Top 10 Updates, Season Recap
Congratulations on an amazing Summer! We had a great Summer Junior Nationals in Irvine, CA with several New Olympic Trial cuts, Team Records, and Top 10 Updates. Ten swimmers from our division represented us: Eric Lee, Richard Poplawski, Adam Kiss, Timothy Lee, Kate Hurst, Chloe Kim, Kathleen Turano, Iris Kim, Kayla Rodriguez and Grace Lee. The team finished 12th overall with our girls finishing 7th overall. The team also won the NJ Gold Championships (formerly Junior Olympics).
Some highlights include:
- Kate Hurst: 2nd place in the 1500 Free with 16:18.55. Broke 2 NJ Swimming records (Girls 15-18 1500 Free and Women Open 1500 Free). Also, a New Team Record.
- Kathleen Turano with 4 New Olympic Trial Cuts (400 Free, 800 Free, 1500 Free, and 400 IM).
- Top 8 Finishers were Chloe Kim, Kathleen Turano and Kate Hurst as well as the Women’s 800 Free Relay.
- Top 16 Finishers were Iris Kim and Eric Lee as well at the Women’s and Men’s 400 Free Relays and the Men’s 200 Free Relay.
- New Summer Junior National cuts were made at the meet by Grace Lee (800 Free), Adam Kiss (400 Free, 400 IM), and Timothy Lee (50 Free).
- Iris Kim achieved a New US Open cut in the 400 Free as well as a Winter Junior National cuts (1500 Free).
- 6 New Team Records were set by: Richard Poplawski (200 fly, 400 IM), Kayla Rodriguez (100 Breast), Kate Hurst (800 Free, 1500 Free), and Adam Kiss (400 Free).
- 6 New Team Relay Records (Women Open & 15/19 200 Free Relay, Women Open & 15/19 400 Free Relay, and Women Open & 15/19 800 Free Relay).
- Our team now has 4 Olympic Trial Qualifiers: Chloe Kim, Eric Lee, Kate Hurst and Kathleen Turano.
