Ange'l Wilson

DIRECTOR OF JAZZ PROGRAM, COLLABORATIVE MEMBER

Practically born and definitely raised in my mother’s modest-but-MIGHTY dance studio in Stillwater, OK, I knew I wanted to dance before I could say the word. Since age 2, I’ve been training and studying to become well-versed in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, pointe, hip-hop, musical theatre and anything else I can get my hands on! After High School and (sadly) closing our studio, I moved on to the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK, where I received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in “Dance Education”. UCO took me everywhere and taught me a wealth about teaching, choreo, performance, kinesiology, treatment of athletic injuries, dance history…the list goes on. (They’ve since divided into 2 majors; 1 focusing on performance & choreo, the other on Dance Management) In my Theatre Dance class, I incorporate ballet technique, jazz technique and choreography, even modern and hip hop at times and, of course, acting. It’s a fun class. We get to play different roles with every new dance/combo; I don’t know many dancers who don’t like to play, or “get into character” once in awhile! This is my 2nd year teaching dance at Taos Youth Ballet, WHAT A BLESSING! Thank you to all the teachers and parents for believing in me, thank you to my EXCEPTIONALLY AMAZING STUDENTS for being AMAZING!!!!
