Ballet, Pointe

Kathleen began her professional career with Ballet West’s second company under the directorship of Mark Goldweber and Adam Sklute. While with Ballet West, she originated the principal role of The Little Mermaid and starred in the BBC Worldwide production of “Breaking Pointe”, a docu-drama featuring the lives of professional dancers. Kathleen furthered her career with Ballet Idaho while debuting in George Balanchine’s Serenade and Rubies. She quickly advanced to Soloist Dancer with Ballet San Antonio originating Mercedes in Don Quixote and Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty. Ms. Martin continues to perform as a guest Principal Dancer with A.V.A Ballet Theater. Her repertoire includes Cinderella in Cinderella, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake; Swanhilda in Coppelia; Aurora, Carabosse and the Lilac Fairy from Sleeping Beauty; Belle in Beauty and the Beast; Mercedes and Queen of the Driads in Don Quixote; Tiger Lily in Peter Pan and White Queen in Alice in Wonderland. Balanchine’s Serenade and Rubies; Ben Stevenson’s Dracula and Swan Lake; Scheherazade, Sugar Plum and Snow Queen in the Nutcracker and August Bournonville’s Tarantella of Napoli. Kathleen has had the pleasure of working with Daniel Pelzig in Nine Live; Jodi Gates in Rochambeau and Avichai Schere in Mingling. Ms. Martin was the source of five original works choreographed on her by contemporary choreographer Daniel Ojeda.
