Village of Irvington Recreation & Parks Department Facilities/Parks

I.K. Benjamin Community Center-The I.K. Benjamin Community Center houses the Irvington Recreation and Parks Department. Local organizations may use the facility. Facility request forms are available at the office and must be submitted at least one month in advance by an Irvington resident. The Village of Irvington reserves the right to refuse requests. All groups are subject to cancellation depending on the Recreation Department’s needs. This facility is not available for private parties.

O’Hara Nature Center Opened in September 2012. The ONC is a model of energy efficient and green design. The ONC is located on Mountain Road where it is surrounded by 400 acres of forested trails and ecosystems bursting with rich History. Programs and community events are offered throughout the year. Memorial Park/Tennis Court This park is accessible by Station Road or Dows Lane Road. The park includes two ball fields, one multi-use field, three illuminated tennis courts and a new playground located at the Station Road entrance. Tennis Court Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily (during season). The Recreation Department reserves the right to utilize the courts for tennis lessons and parties. Reminder: bicycles, pets, and vehicles are not allowed in parks. Park permits are required for tennis courts. Lights are off from 12/1/19 - 4/1/20 based on weather. The bathroom facilities are closed during winter months.

Senior Citizen Center / Community Room Located in the Scenic Hudson Park at Irvington, this facility is home to the Village Senior Citizen Program. It is also used for recreation programs and services. For non-senior functions, contact 591-7736. See Senior Citizen section for information on senior services and programs. The Senior Center is available on Saturday and Sundays for private parties. Please call 591-7736 for availability and more information regarding the rental of this facility. Halsey Pond Irvington’s best-kept secret is located off Palliser Road. Halsey Pond is a scenic, tranquil area for passive recreation activities. Park Permit and NY State fishing license are required. Park Hours: dawn to dusk. Limited parking is available.Licensed dogs on leash allowed.

Scenic Hudson Park at Irvington - 29 Bridge Street Scenic Hudson Park is on the Hudson River adjacent to Bridge Street Properties. The park is accessed via Bridge Street, a local street that is parallel to the Hudson River and the Metro North Railroad. Please note: Staff uses starter pistols to chase geese from parks when needed

Matthiessen Park Matthiessen Park is one of the most beautiful parks along the Hudson River with a spectacular view. Park facilities include: playground unit, shuffle board courts, horseshoe pits, spray pool, picnic tables, and barbecue pits. Park requests are required for all parties. Matthiessen Park is the location for our riverside concerts and movies held in the summer. Reminder: bicycles, pets, and vehicles are not allowed in parks. A group permit is required for groups of 10 or more. Residents with valid 2019 Village Park Passes are allowed to launch kayaks and small boats in Matthiessen Park at the beach area. No motorized vehicles can be launched regardless of size. No cars are allowed in the park for the purpose of drop-offs or pick-ups. The bathroom facilities are closed during winter months.
