FINAL COMMUNICATION- Summer Season
Bobcats,
All BSC accounts will close TONIGHT! This is the FINAL BSC communication you will receive unitl you regiser for the Fall/Winter season. With that in mind, there are some reminders to pass along one last time:
1. TEAM PARTY, AUG. 6, 8:00-10:00 PM, ATHENS CITY POOL:
ALL Bobcats and their families are invited to the end-of-season party! There will be an awards presentation with a dessert pot-luck to follow! The team will provide the paper products and bottled water. Families are asked to bring a dessert to share:)
The pool will be open just for our team! Bring your suit and swim under the stars!
2. FALL/WINTER REGISTRATION:
Registration for the fall/winter season will open on Aug. 1. Registration is handled via the team's website, https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ohbsc/page/home. The registration portal will close on Aug. 31.
Attached you will find a handout that will explain each of the training groups!

3. AUGUST TRAINING:
We will not hold any coach-led trainings during August. Instead, athletes should complete the SwimStrong Dryland trainings at home. You can make these practices a family event with everyone getting in shape together:) These workouts will be addressing some common muscular imbalances and will focus on foundational movement patterns in preparation for the next season.

4. SWIMVILLE SUIT FITTING, SEPT. 4, 5:30 PM-7:00 PM, GROVER HALL:
The team has signed a contract with TYR. That means that we are expected to wear TYR suits at competitions. Swimmers will need to have a TYR team suit for all meets. Swimmers can wear the suit of their choosing for practices.
With this in mind, we have scheduled a visit by Swimville to provide the opportunity for athletes to try on suits and make purchases.
Attached you will find a welcome letter from Swimville and an order form that can be turned in at the fitting.
5. OUTREACH SCHOLARSHIP:
USA Swimming offers a reduced registration fee for athletes from low-income families. The purpose of this program is to provide competitive swimming opportunities to the underrepresented and economically disadvantaged youth in the United States. The Outreach Program reduces the USA Swimming annual membership fee to $5. In addition, efforts will be made to secure funds for additional needs such as swimsuits, equipment and possible travel expenses.

Ohio Swimming Outreach Procedure
The Ohio Swimming athlete “Outreach” membership (an annual reduced registration fee for USA Swimming membership), along with the athlete’s club giving a reduced monthly club fee, will aid the athlete financially to continue their swimming program.
Applicants should contact Denise Humphrey, via email at bobcatswimclubathens@gmail, with one of the above listed Outreach Qualification Considerations (the burden of proof lies with the applicant).
The BSC Board of Directors will review the application and determine eligibility for inclusion in the Outreach program. If accepted, the athlete will be eligible for additional needs such as swimsuits, equipment and possible travel expenses per the OSI Policy and available funding. If the application is not accepted, the individual may appeal to the General Chair of Ohio Swimming. The host club will be notified of the application’s rejection, and the applicant will be responsible for the balance of the membership fee.

Team Fees
It is EACH SWIMMER’S (OR PARENT’S) RESPONSIBILITY to pursue and agree upon team fees with the club you are affiliated with. USA Swimming and Ohio Swimming do not have a part in team fee negotiations.
Swim Meets
Ohio Swimming waives the meet fees (for individual events and the surcharges) for outreach swimmers.
Confidentiality
All efforts will be made to keep the status of outreach swimmers confidential.
6. BACK-TO-SWIM COOKOUT:
We will gather 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Strouds Run State Park for a team cookout.
The team will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, paper products, buns, and condiments.
Families are asked to provide the following:
Green (8U) and White (9-10)- sides
Black (11-12) and Bronze (13 over)- desserts
Silver (13 over) and Gold (13 over)- drinks
