Bobcat Bulletin 9/29/25
Bobcats,
What a FANTASTIC season-opening meet we had last Friday night at the OUAC!
I want to begin by thanking ALL of the parent volunteers who assisted with the meet's operation! From the officials to the timers... it takes ALL of us working together to put on these events for the kids!
And the pizza and conversations were top-notch, too:)))
Below you will see TONS of positive news that came from the meet:)
1. BLOCK PARTY MEET PARTICIPATION:
As you are aware, the club underwent a strategic planning proces earlier this year to determine the club's strengths and areas of improvement. Athlete Engagement, Parent Engagement, and Community Engagement were determined to be the three areas that the club should pay attention to. Block Party meets can be utilized as a method of achieving the first two goals.
a. Increase the number of athlete participants, which thus leads to an increase in retention
b. Increase the number of parent participants, which thus leads an increase in connectivity and enjoyment of the club
| Fall Block Party Meet Engagement Levels |
Green | White | Black | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
| Athlete participation | 92% | 88% | 93% | 80% | 69% | 91% |
| Parent participation | 50% | 53% | 38% | 50% | 27% | 83% |
Our next meet will be the Spooktacular Invitational Oct. 17-19 at the OUAC! If you didn't get a chance to participate last week, we hope that you will get involved for this upcoming event!
2. BLOCK PARTY MEET RESULTS:
I have attached the meet's results. These times have been sent to USA Swimming and are official. They can be used for qualifying for state championship meets- which is GREAT news! In fact, we had a couple of kids earn STATE CUTS! Congratulations to these state-qualifying swimmers:
Piper Lindauer- 50 Free, 50 Back
Charlie Daugherty- 50 Free
Dani Ulloa- 50 Free (NEW 11-12 GIRLS TEAM RECORD)
When looking at the attached report, the most important column of information to pay attention to is the one titled "IMPROV" which stands for "Improvement". A negative sign indicates the number of seconds of improvement that the swimmer achieved. All of those best times are to be celebrated!!! Improvement is the name of the game in this sport!
The "Swimmer of the Meet" is Omar Hassanin! Take a look at these numbers- best time in the 300 Free by 57 seconds and a 32 second improvement in the 200 Back! Just brilliant swims by him! Omar will receive a custom BSC towel to celebrate his accomplishments!
Congratulations to all Bobcats who raced last Friday! The coaching staff is VERY proud of the results... NO DQ's for any Bobcat! Just outstanding!!!
There is just one other meet to register for at this time! And it's deadline is FRIDAY! Make sure you get signed up!
You will register for the meet on the team 's website, https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ohbsc/page/home. Click on the "Events" tab. From there look under "Team Events" and you'll see the list of all of the season's meets.
Next to the meets' name, you'll see a pink "Attend/Decline" button. Click on that button and let the coaches know if your child will be participating or not. This is EXTREMELY important as we need to know attendees for making relays!
You should NOT pick your child's meet events! Please allow the coaches to do this!
4. SPOOKTACULAR INVITATIONAL, VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Once your swimmer is registered for the meet, you will need to register for a volunteer position! I need LOTS of volunteers for this meet! EVERY FAMILY WILL BE EXPECTED TO VOLUNTEER FOR MULTIPLE SHIFTS! If you don't sign up, expect that I'll be flooding your inbox with email requests!
So, back on the website where you registered your child to compete, you'll see a green "Job Signup" button. Click on that and pick your task! It's really that simple!
And the jobs are simple too! You'll get to hang out where all of the action is, you be well-fed, and you'll get to contribute to the club- WIN, WIN, WIN!
I'll look forward to spending time with you on deck!
5. PARENT ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: MEETAPALOOZA, OCT. 9:
As I shared with you after Friday's meet, ALL parents are encouraged to attend a parent meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6:15 PM to discuss swim meets! We'll provides the meats and cheeses and discuss volunteering. This is your chance to delve into the roles required to host a swim meet AND you'll get to forge deeper conncections with the other BSC parents!
Once you've dropped off your swimmer to practice, head upstairs and enjoy the conversation and refreshments!
