Bobcat Bulletin 10/20/25

Denise Humphrey

Bobcats,

Well that was a jam-packed weekend! A "thank-you" just doesn't seem like enough to express my gratitude for your squeezing in the meet with all of the other Athens activities pulling you in lots of directions! However, I do hope you know how much I appreciate your help in making the meet such a good experience for all of the kids and parents who spent the weekend in town with us!

1. SPOOKTACULAR INVITATIONAL- MEET RESULTS:

I predicted that we would see some fast swimming from our kids and they proved me right! Attached is the meet report that shows the results. Remember that the "IMPROV" column is the most important set of data to look at as it indicates how much time the kids are dropping. You'll see LOTS of negatives and some of them are REALLY BIG improvements!

As you scroll down the page, stop at Max Gifford's name. Do you see that -116.94??? That's not a mistake! He really did drop almost 2 minutes in his 1000 Free race! Based on that swim and his other races, Max is the "Swimmer of the Meet"! Tonight he'll be presented with a new BSC towel to honor his improvement!

Also worth highlighting are Dodge Gilders and Katelin Fridrich. Both of them set new team records! Dodge broke the 11-12 Boys 200 Back record and Katelin set a new 17-18 Girls 1000 Free mark! Congratulations to both of them!

And a big "WAY TO GO" to all of the other Bobcats who competed so well over the weekend! We started the season off on the right note and those performances have given us lots of momentum as we head into the rest of the season!

2. MEET REGISTRATION:

Friday is the deadline to register for the next Block Party meet! This is one you will not want to miss! We are asking that our Green, White, and Black athletes come to the pool in their Halloween costumes. The Bronze, Silver, Gold, and OU Women's Swimming and Diving Team will be passing out treats! Once we've finished with the trick-or-treating, the kids will hop in the pool for some racing!  The deadline to sign-up for this meet is FRIDAY!

You will register for the meet on the team 's website, https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ohbsc/page/home. Click on the "Events" tab. From there look under "Team Events" and you'll see the invitational listed.

Next to the meets' name, you'll see a pink "Attend/Decline" button. Click on that button and let the coaches know if your child will be participating or not. This is EXTREMELY important as we need to know attendees for making relays!

You should NOT pick your child's meet events! Please allow the coaches to do this! Just let the coaches know which days you can attend!

5. AAU DIVING TEAM:

A new era is beginning in Athens! We are thrilled to announce the formation of an AAU Diving Team! The team will be led by Ohio University diver Anna Haluch.  She is from Hudson Ohio and is majoring in physical education and sport coaching while also pursuing a certificate in sports nutrition. She began diving her freshman year of high school. Before that she was a gymnast for seven years. In high school she was a three time state qualifier. She competed at the MAC championships last year. This summer she coached a learn to dive class and is very passionate about working with young divers!
