Bobcats,

We are back to racing this week with the Halloween Block Party meet on Thursday! Here's the schedule of events that night:

5:30 PM-  The Halloween costume parade begins! We are asking that ALL Green, White, and Black swimmers come to the pool in costume! They will parade throughout the OUAC collecting treats from the OU Women's Swimming and Diving Team and our Bronze, Silver, and Gold Bobcats!

6:00 PM- Warmup begins

6:30 PM- Competition begins

7:30 PM- Competition ends

 

1. HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY- MEET INFORMATION:

Attached you'll find the heat sheet and entry report. We will not have heat sheets available at the meet so please print your own copy. The coaches would appreciate if you take a few moments to write your child's events, heats, and lanes on their arms:)

2. FRIDAY, OCT. 31- REDUCED PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

With Athens' trick-or-treating scheduled for Friday, there will be NO practices for Green, White, Black, and Bronze swimmers. There will be practices for Silver and Gold swimmers.

Also, to give you a heads up, the Athens High School Swim Team will begin its practices on Friday, Oct. 31. So you will see additional coaches and athletes on deck for the next couple of months.

 

3. MEET REGISTRATION:
There are three meets currently accepting registrations- and they're all meets at the OUAC! 

You will register for the meet on the team 's website, https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ohbsc/page/home. Click on the "Events" tab. From there look under "Team Events" and you'll see the invitational listed.

Next to the meets' name, you'll see a pink "Attend/Decline" button. Click on that button and let the coaches know if your child will be participating or not. This is EXTREMELY important as we need to know attendees for making relays!

You should NOT pick your child's meet events! Please allow the coaches to do this! Just let the coaches know which days you can attend!

4. TEAM FUNDRAISER- KISERS BBQ:

This is the FINAL week for us to take advantage of the VERY GENEROUS opportunity Kisers BBQ has offered our team!

Bobcat Swim Club is the non-profit organization for the month of October! 5% of the total amount of sales on Tuesday will be donated to BSC! This applies to all dine-in, carryout, and delivery orders! So head to Kisers tomorrow for some GREAT food that benefits your belly and the team!!!

 

5. PARENT ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY- NOV. 6:

The next parent engagment activity is quickly approaching! On Thursday, Nov. 6 during practice we will gather for tea and treats!  The theme is "Tea Time" with the conversation centered around USA Swimming's Motivational Time Standards and qualifying time standards for meets. Tea Time will be held during practice, so drop off your swimmer and then head upstairs to join in the fun!
 
 
 
6. AAU DIVING TEAM:
 
A new era is beginning in Athens! We are thrilled to announce the formation of an AAU Diving Team! The team will be led by Ohio University diver Anna Haluch.  She is from Hudson Ohio and is majoring in physical education and sport coaching while also pursuing a certificate in sports nutrition. She began diving her freshman year of high school. Before that she was a gymnast for seven years. In high school she was a three time state qualifier. She competed at the MAC championships last year. This summer she coached a learn to dive class and is very passionate about working with young divers!
 
Registration for this team is now open on the team's website. Registration will close Friday, Oct. 31 at 9:00 PM.
 
Practices will be held on Sundays from 2:00-4:00 PM at the OUAC. The season will run Nov. 2- April 26. 
 
Please help us spread the word about this new aquatic program coming to SE Ohio!
 
 
 
7. SUMMER MEET SCHEDULE CHANGE: 
 
There has been a change to the summer meet schedule sent to you last week. The Jill Griesse Invitational at Denison University has been moved from June 26-28 to June 19-21. We will attend the meet on this new date of June 19-21. Please make the change on your calendar!
