Bobcat Bulletin 11/3/25

Denise Humphrey

Bobcats,

The Halloween Block Party was wildly successful! A big THANK-YOU to the Athlete Committee for planning and organizing the costume parade before the meet! This event serves as an opportunity for our older athletes to support our younger ones and it gives the OU Women's Swimming and Diving team a chance to connect with our club! That's a whole lot of positivity from a quick event!

And a big WOW from me to the parent volunteers! As you know, I always stress about finding help to run our meets. That was not the case this time around! In fact, we had more people offer to assist than we needed! I can't thank you enough for being so generous!!!

1. HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY- MEET RESULTS:

The coaching staff had decided to offer some trick events and some treat events to the meet's lineup! Lots of kids swam events that they aren't that familiar with so that might have seemed a bit scary. And that was the point! We always want the kids to push themselves out of their comfort zones so they learn that they are capable of much more than they first believed. Life is full of risks and we want kids to face them head on!

The "Swimmer of the Meet" is Wolf Daniels! His two races resulted in over 35 seconds of improvement! Wolf will receive a new BSC towel to celebrate that incredible performance! Way to go, Wolf!

Attached you will find all of the meet's results! You'll see that we keep improving and that's the goal- BETTER EVERYDAY!

2. TUESDAY, NOV. 4- OU FOOTBALL GAME:

There's a home football game between the Bobcats and Miami Tuesday night. Traffic will be increased and parking will be a challenge. Your best bet is to drop off and pick up the kids at the pool's side door along Oxbow Trail.

3. MEET REGISTRATION:
The BEST MEET OF THE YEAR happens in just two weeks! This is truly my favorite event we host because the kids learn about Safe Sport ideals while playing games. Everybody walks away with empowering knowledge and fistfuls of prizes. The awards podium is pulled out, too, so we get to drape medals around the necks of high point winners!

Additionally, this year's event will include a parent Safe Sport training. A member of USA Swimming's National Safe Sport Center will be on site conducting an education session for parents during warmup! ALL parents should plan on attending!

And for the kids this year, a member of the USA Swimming National Team will be at the meet signing autographs and cheering for the kids! It's an event you don't want to miss!  The deadline to register is Friday at 9:00 PM!

You will register for the meet on the team 's website, https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ohbsc/page/home. Click on the "Events" tab. From there look under "Team Events" and you'll see the invitational listed.

Next to the meets' name, you'll see a pink "Attend/Decline" button. Click on that button and let the coaches know if your child will be participating or not. This is EXTREMELY important as we need to know attendees for making relays!

You should NOT pick your child's meet events! Please allow the coaches to do this! Just let the coaches know which days you can attend!

5. PARENT ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY- NOV. 6:

The next parent engagment activity is quickly approaching! On Thursday, Nov. 6 during practice we will gather for tea and treats!   The theme is "Tea Time" with the conversation centered around USA Swimming's Motivational Time Standards and qualifying time standards for meets. Tea Time will be held during practice, so drop off your swimmer and then head upstairs to join in the fun! I hear that there will be door prizes:))))
