Bobcat Bulleting

Denise Humphrey

Bobcats,

The best part of travel meets??? THE TEAM BONDING!!! And we had a lot of it this past weekend! From the team lunch together on Saturday afternoon to the parents sitting together in the stands... we got to spend lots of time together and I wouldn't have traded it for anything!

1. MSS TURKEY INVITE- MEET RESULTS:

Attached you will find 3 documents- the complete results, BSC individual results, and our relay results.

From those documents you'll notice that Bree Lindauer's 1650 Free was a MASSIVE improvement! She dropping a WHOPPING 43 seconds! So... she is the "Swimmer of the Meet" and will receive a BSC towel! We're super happy for her and proud of that swim!

Other results worth noting the THREE team records that were set! Congratulations to these Bobcats:

Dodge Gilders broke the 11-12 Boys 100 Back record previously held by Lucas Watkins.

Lucas Watkins broke the 13-14 Boys 50 Fly record previously held by Levi Morr.

And Elly Stowe broke the team's 15-16 Girls 50 Breast record previously held by Lourdes Benencia who was an OHSAA State qualifying breastroker!

We continue to improve each time we show up to race! That is due to the consistent practice attendance where aerobic conditioning and skill development can occur! So keep showing up and putting in the work- IT MATTERS!

2. BOBCAT SWIM CLUB FOOD DRIVE:

This time of year is always challenging for families in our area and this year the need is even greater! So, to support those struggling families, we will be hosting a food drive Nov 10-24. Canned goods and non-perishable items are welcome donations! You will see boxes on the pool deck for you to drop your items. Be sure to place your donations in your training group's bin because the group with the most donations will be treated to an ice cream sundae bar! Please consider supporting our team's initiative to support our community!

3. TUESDAY, NOV. 11- VETERAN'S DAY:

The OUAC is open on Tuesday so we will have practices:)

4. SAFE SPORT PENTATHLON- SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16:

The entries have been finalized and we're working behind the scenes on the last minute details. This week you will be receiving the heat sheet, timeline, and warmup schedule. Right now I can share the psych sheet and it is attached.
Stay tuned for the rest of the information!

You know that I'll be bugging you this week until you register for a volunteer position! So let's just save us both the hassle and get registered TODAY! Click on the green "Job Signup" button next to the meet name and you'll be all set! Don't hesitate or you may end up with a job you really don't want! You know the saying- "The early bird gets the worm"!

5. PARENT ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY- TEA TIME:

There was an INCREDIBLE array of treats and tea supplied by the Parent Engagement Committe at last week's event! The conversation was centered around USA Swimming's time standards. Veteran and rookie parents all walked away with new information deeper understanding of this sport and relationships were forged among the attendees. And those were two items identified as team needs on the strategic planning survey you completed last Spring.

Participation levels continue to be less than what we had hoped for, however. Only 14% of our team's families attended the event. So, with that in mind, we need to hear from you. The next Parent Engagement event will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18. We have a Block Party meet schedule on that date and the parents will meet before the racing begins. We'll serve cookies and cocoa and ask you for your suggestions and give you an opportuntiy to ask your questions. Consider it as one big "Suggestion Box"!

We're looking forward to hearing from you on Dec. 18!

6. THANKSGIVING PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

Of course there will be changes to our practice schedule during the week of Thanksgiving. Below you will see them:

7. MEET REGISTRATION:

You will register for the meet on the team 's website, https://www.gomotionapp.com/team/ohbsc/page/home. Click on the "Events" tab. From there look under "Team Events" and you'll see the invitational listed.

Next to the meets' name, you'll see a pink "Attend/Decline" button. Click on that button and let the coaches know if your child will be participating or not. This is EXTREMELY important as we need to know attendees for making relays!

You should NOT pick your child's meet events! Please allow the coaches to do this! Just let the coaches know which days you can attend!
