Having recently retired from teaching with the Olentangy Local School District in Powell, Ohio, Denise Humphrey begins her seventh season with the Bobcat Swim Club. She serves as the club's executive director and assumes the coaching responsibilities of the Senior Group.

During Denise’s 28 years in suburban Columbus, she worked with swimmers ages 5-18. She honed her coaching philosophy while working on the coaching staffs of Buckeye Swim Club, Olentangy High School, and the Delaware Aquatic Racing Team.

Denise is a graduate of Ashland University where she earned degrees in Elementary Education and Sports Management. She was captain of the college team during her junior and senior years.

Denise is married to Dick Humphrey and resides in Shawnee.  She is the mother of son Cameron, an avid triathlete, and daughter Mallory.

My name is Jake Clark, and I am in my second year of coaching for Bobcat Swim Club! I’ve been swimming since I was 11. I continue to be a student of the sport and consider swimming my biggest passion. My goal is to learn more about coaching, and encourage young swimmers to love the sport and develop a work ethic that will help them wherever they may go, in the same way that BSC has done for me. Go Bobcats!! 

Here is my bio: After a long hiatus from the sport of swimming, Liz Kelley is excited to return poolside with the Bobcat Swim Club this fall. Liz fell in love with swimming on her first race with her summer league team at the age of six. That passion for the sport and competition grew when she joined her local club team, Akron Firestone, and continued through high school where she achieved All-American status. When her competitive career ended, Liz enjoyed teaching kids to swim and coaching her summer league swimmers. This was also when Liz discovered yoga, eventually leading her to become a certified yoga instructor, specializing in kids yoga and mindfulness. In addition to raising three children and teaching yoga, Liz has spent the last twenty years teaching Anthropology in colleges across Ohio. Liz is looking forward to sharing her love of swimming with the Green Group kids this year, and helping them develop foundational skills for life-long swimming.

My name is Karissa Smrecansky, I’m sophomore at OU, majoring in Psychology. I have been coaching for 3 years and swimming since I was 5. Swimming has always been my biggest passion and my goal is to spread that passion to my swimmers. I hope to be able to improve my swimmer’s strokes, times, and help them to love swimming as much as I do! I am so excited to be a part of the Bobcat swim family!

Lew has been coaching for 30 years. He is an American Swim Coach Association Master Level 4 coach. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in both Literature and Education

Hi! My name is Kendall Chapman and I am a sophmore at OU majoring in Spanish and History Pre-Law. Prior to coming to OU, I swam competitively for 10 years and I've been coaching for 2 years now. This will be my first year with the Bobcat Swim Club and I will be primarily coaching the White Group this season! I am very excited to get to know everyone and to be a part of this awesome team! Go Bobcats 

Hi my name is Annie and I am a sophomore from Hudson Ohio! I am a member of the Ohio University swim and dive team. I am majoring in physical education and sport coaching and am getting a certificate in sports nutrition. I began diving my freshman year of high school. Before that I was a gymnast for seven years. In high school I was a three time state qualifier. I competed at the MAC championships my freshman year of college. This summer I coached a learn to dive class and am very passionate about working with young divers!

Ellie Lindauer recently moved to Athens from New Jersey. While it is a change from big city living, Ellie feels at home in Athens. She grew up in Cincinnati so she is happy to be back closer to family.

Prior to having children, Ellie spent four years as an Elementary Special Education teacher in Indiana. She also coached high school swimming during this time. After a few years away from the classroom, she returned as a preschool teacher in New Jersey. She has a passion for working with children and looks forward to being on the deck again.

Ellie graduated from University of Indianapolis with a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in Reading and Special Education. Just last year, she was inducted into her college Hall of Fame for swimming.

Ellie was a competitive swimmer most of her life, but has also competed in triathlons (all distances) and numerous running events, including marathons. She enjoys staying active.

Ellie has been married for thirteen years and has two wonderful daughters, Bree and Piper. Bree is a current member of Bobcat Swim Club and Piper is hoping to join soon!

In her free time, you can find Ellie running, hiking, camping, and spending time with her kids!
